the buttholes at AT&T won't help me out by DLing (or at least trying to DL) the phone numbers out of it for me. Apparently there is some outfit about 35 minutes out of town that does it for $25.

If they were able to do it for me I would have stopped by a store and bought a new phone. Now fuck them if they can't help me out, I'm buying off of ebay.

I'm just pissed because I've heard other companies will help people out.

BTW it's a Nokia 5165, I know it's old but it gets the job done.

Aany ideas?

I had the same problem and went with a dedicated line.
Only problem now is making sure my buddy has the other tin can, and that the string is long enough.

I only have maybe 20-30 numbers and I'd hate to have to re-enter them.

I have a hard copy offline so I can re enter them all correctly.

Can you threaten them that you will change carriers? One of the biggest problems for the wireless industry is churn, and the last thnig they want to do is lose customers.

Plus there is a new element in the wireless industry that has many carriers worried. You will soon be able to switch service providers and keep your number. This may lead to increased churn as people can now shop around and find the best deal and not lose their number.

One thing I did tell them was that I needed a new phone, and while I was at the store getting a ne wone could they download my numbers?

After the spiel the lady was like "so what phone can we get you today sir?"

And I said you know what, if you had been willing to help me out with the numbers I might have spent some money on a whiz-bang phone but since you don't offer that service, and I know other wireless carriers do, I'll just find a phone on eBay. Good day.

dont you guys have sim cards?

out here in australia you have a sim card that stores your numbers and phone number, so you can just chuck em into any working mobile and boom. all set!
