I don't understand Ashcroft (or other conservatives)

The reason AG Ashcroft spent the money to cover the statue was because the dumbass news media jerkoffs were purposely trying to get a photo angle that included the breasts in the background. I suppose the object was to somehow make the subject of the photo & news story look like a fool. It really amounted to a mature adult slapping the hands of a bunch of misbehaving children. Same as when the military makes the reporters stand on the sidelines after their shameful behavior in Somalia.

The bottom line to all of this is that the liberal democratic agenda places no restraints on whatever means are necessary to discredit the oppposition, and those means may be as honest or dishonest as the individual may choose. As a matter of fact, that is a perfect example of the situational ethics doctrine that is one of the liberal planks--the end justifies the means as long as you personally believe the end is right, right now.

BTW Omega,
The Dems are fiscally conservative? Since when? The Democratic party has never met a tax they didn't like. The have spent every dollar they can find--and then some. It is like a sickness for them---they cannot stop. I laugh when I hear libs claim that President Reagan is responsible for the public debt of the late 80's & early 90's. Ronald Reagan was responsible for the huge increase in federal tax income through his broad tax cuts, and the Democrats outspent every dollar the government took in, leaving a mess that Presient Bush had to fix--just in time for Clinton to take credit for it. All fact and easily confirmed.

I´ve said this before but you disappeared. Hitler had convictions and standards. What´s your point?

sorry if I am not able to spend hours at a time here.

When I speak of a man with standards, I am describing him as a man that stands for what is right despite what is popular or contemporary. Ashcroft is sort of a throwback because he believes in values that were common back in the 40's and 50's.

Your bringing up hitler here is, well, reaching.

Hitler stood for wrong. Aschcroft stands for right. The two could not be any more different.-----but really when you get right down to it I imagine you probably know that, dont you?

You think Hitler was a man of Convictions??? I disagree.:)

Having standards, is not a problem for me. However, wasting taxpayers money 7-8k for a curtain to cover the statue is.

I could find plenty of idiotic things he's done.......and I could care less for the conservative or dem platform. They're both corrupt, liars who do not serve the interests of the majority of the American public.

That is obvious to anyone.

What everyone fails to mention in this situation is that those statues were covered while several presidents were in office during some events. they were covered when Clinton was in office during two speeches - yes that's right CLINTON.

As for the bullshit about spending $8,000 of taxpayer money, the cutains were rented from a company during previous events for about $2,000 a day. So, if you get right down to it, Ashcroft actually saved taxpayer money in the long run.

In the interest of fairness, no tax bill could pass without the cooperation of both houses and both sides of the aisle of Congress. true the Democrats have wrapped themselves in the communist/populist flag by always calling for raising taxes in response to any budget question, but despite the rhetoric in the end both parties are responsible for the current system.

(this is to condemn BOTH of them, not to justify the Democrats.)

MOVE The press conference room........that would certainly cost less than 2k per day. Or MOVE the statues. They can lick microphones from anywhere.

Like hell he's saving taxpayer money by spending 6-8 K to cover up the justice statue compared to renting it. Why not just go down to Home Depot and buy one of those big blue tarps for $50 bucks. Some of the Walmarts have similar tarps in green/gray reversable. Does covering up a symbol of justice constiture statuary rape?

The point is that it was not a "conservative" thing. it was a thing that liberals and conservatives alike have done in the past. Let's not even start a thread on things the government can do to save money.

They've spent $8,000 on nuts and bolts.

I just can't understand how ANYONE can support EITHER of these parties....
