I don't like Protein

Kickin Girl

New member
hello, I'm very new to this place but I wonder... what does one do for protein when all you eat is carbs? I don't like meat/eggs/fish at all. I cannot seem to even begin to try them. anyone have any suggestions?

Soybeans are an excellent source of protein. There are also various protein supplements out there such as shakes, bars, etc.

Go to www.google.com and do a search for "high protein foods" - you are sure to come up with lots of hits.

try a protein powder supplement, like optimum 100% whey. also, cottage cheese; milk; nuts; legumes like lentils, beans, peas.

you don't like meat? not even steak?

I don't like any meat, just never have. I do like milk and peanuts. is peanut butter protein? what kind of supplements? like slim fast shakes or something else?

kk

slim fast is kinda lame.. not enough protein and too much sugar for normal use in my opinion... BUT hey there's lots of options
Peanut Butter is a complete protein it's damn cool.. but high calorie so you need to limit yourself somewhat, I will often have it on celery sticks, you can get different protein powder drink mixes... soy milk kis damn good in my opinion.. kidney beans and rice, whole wheat bread, spaghetti, some pitas have a fairly high protein content (probably incomplete though, so you can mix it with some other protein source) I personally like white rice and vegetables chopped up in a high protein pita.. and a glass of soy milk.. sometimes I eat this... lots of options.. when you go grocery shopping check out nutrition lables. good luck

Do you like eggs? Fish?

Whatever kind of diet you're on, you need to realize protein is vital. You need to get it from somewhere, or you will end being doomed to be one of those skinny fat people..You know the kind that weigh a buck o' 5, and are skinny, but they are all cellulite and have a bodyfat % of like 25? Yeah they're skinny whoopeee but they look like crap. That's what hapens when you take in no protein. Vegan's typically have that look. Skinny with no muscle tone. Anyway, if you cant do meat fish or eggs, then you need to go buy some protein powder.

Hey guys I would steer him from eating too much nuts, alot of fat in a small quantity. What I would suggest is eating chicken, Tuna, whatever you can stomach... also Low Carb High Protein bars are great for Sweet Fixes, as well as Protein supplmentation by Whey Powder... or even with artificially sweetened stuff like ISOpure, which tastes more fruity.

No Slim Fast! That stuff is evil...hehehe...no, seriously, there are far better protein drinks out there than slimfast. Get yourself a good whey protein and if you want to add some extra protein and/or carbs, you can add soy milk instead of regular milk.
You have to watch how much peanut butter you take in, cuz as many of us know, from experience, the fat calories add up very quickly. It does taste great in a protein shake though!

Go to your local GNC or what have you and ask the people there to show you to the Whey protein. If you want to save money, order from online somewhere. Don't get the meal replacements, just get the whey protein.

are you looking to diet or what? You want to lose fat or add some muscle?

burning_inside, I'm on a diet I guess. I'm 6'1 and 170 lbs (female) and I want t be like 145 or 150. I hope I can , but usually I wind up getting dizzy. I have muslce leftover from being in cheerleading, but now I just want to be skinny and eat the right foods.

Then just do a zone diet. Go to the one thread by Lee on here and scroll down till you see my big long diet post for him. It's basically the same thing. Except your calorie ratios will be different. let me know if you'd be able to do it, and I'll work out your ratios.

You don't want to lose your muscle, because it helps you burn more calories, if you lose muscle you will screw up your metabolism, and could become like those fat housewifes that did yo yo diets their whole lifes. Buy optimum nutrition 100% Whey, its pretty cheap, tastes great, and is high in protein, almost no carbs, it tastes like chocolate milk. Drink lots of skim milk, if you don't like any meat or fish. Are you a vegetarian or something, I never heard of people not eating meat, cause it tastes bad.

Are you weight training as well? You want to be skinny? Hopefully, instead of skinny, you mean toned. What kind of training are you doing right now? That would be a great deal of help.
As for your diet, you definitely are going to have to sacrifice some of those foods(bad) for some healthier choices. You don't have to give everything up but you will have to make some changes.

well, toned I mean. I have muscle from cheerleading and all, but I want to be very lean. I do toning excercises, but for now no weight teaining. it seems when i workout my muscles bulk up. I walk 3 miles now and do toning excercise. I just want to eat better but i really don't like any healthy foods.

When I first started way back when, you couldn't get me to go to the gym or start attempting to eat right. it was always tmoorrow tomorrow. it takes time, but depending on how determined you are to make a change early and not look bad when you're older, it'll happen sooner or later.

If you want to tone, you know how important weight training is.
Don't fall into the cardio only crowd, you'll find your results much better adding in resistance training.

Fyre is right, you need to add weight training to help tone and burn more calories. So many women say that their muscles bulk whenever they lift weights. UNBELIEVABLE!! I have 20 times the testosterone you do, so I should be totally freakin' huge! You need the muscle to help burn calories. The more lean muscle you have the faster your body will burn calories.

I don't like eating protein either, I'd rather be eating Wendy's and pizza every day. But Wendy's and pizza doesn't make me look good. I know what I have to give up to get what I want. If you want it bad enough you'll give up the things that you crave.
