I don't get it...

I have been training pretty hard for the last three months and have a pretty clean diet except for weekends between 1700 and 1900 calories intake. My clothes fit better now, but the scale didn't move

For the last two weeks I took a small break from lifting but still maintained a clean diet with an intake of 1400 calories. I figured I didn't need the extra since I wasn't doing any cardio or lifting... The scale moved 7 pounds in the correct direction. My clothes are even looser now.

Why???? Was it too much of a calorie defficiancy? Why did I lose weight when I wasn't working out??? Is my body messed up or something?

Firstly the inital scale not moving but clothes fitting better is about losing bodyfat but building muscle.

If while taking a break you lost even more weight -- I am doubtful you actually lost muscle in a 2 week break -- but experts here may tell you that you have...so I cannot be certain what the real answers are.

However if now the scale has edged down a dig drop...you have most likely lost water -- not only regular water retention, but also lack of lifting can cause intramuscular water loss.

I would not allow your cals to drop low -- you will lose the muscle you have worked hard to get. And since you have been stellar for the past 3 months, I would also guess that your body is physcially shifting its composition and your metabolism is beginning to change as well.

You do not mention the basis of your eating -- more carbs than protein, more protein than carbs, what kind of carbs, water intake. So my words are more theory and self experience than anything scientific.

I defer to those more technically knowledgeable...but don't let the scale fool you.....you need to be consistent on all fronts (diet, training, cardio) for your body to keep the good and lose the bad.

If you are eating low-carb, you will continue to lose weight even if you don't train.

Also, your red blood cell count will drop if you don't train and you will lose some water weight as your need for plasma decreases.
