i am starting the atkins diet tommorow.. any advice?

hey gwl9dta4 liek what other way? i'm doing th elow card 6 days and high card on the 7th day since i need to drop 5% or more within 4-5 weeks what other ways are there?

4-5% drop in fat is how much for you? Lbs wise.

What you are doing is a CKD diet, not atkins. CKD is a little better for the athelete, i did the CKD and my strenght was OK, so you should be fine on that one, but not long term.

well i'm at 25% I have no choice but to drop 5% atleast in 4-5 weeks basically i'm not really going to worry about calories but i know it would stay below 3k but will stay below 20-25g of carbs. i guess i won't have to use r-ala. i will be using a shake twice a day and 3 meals a day mostly tuna and chicken. is banana safe or does it have carbs? how about yogurt? though abotu winny but not sure if that would assist or not

OK dude, from the questions you asked i can tell you need to do a lot more research on the diet, no offense. Also you have to realise that the CKD diet is not an easy diet for the uninitiated. You have to know your body and all the foods you eat.

I can already tell from what you outlined that there is not enough fats in the diet. Remember that a CKD diet is high in fat and protein. So things like bananas and any kind of fruit is out of the question if you are to be strict because it will knock you out of ketosis. But i will tell you that what you outlined is the making of a decent high protein, medum carb diet. add cardio 3 times per week and you will start to loose fat quicly. Forget the anabolics for now.

Advice? Don't do it. A simpler carb rotation may be the trick. Some days moderate, some days low. I'm sure there are diets posted on here that follow simliar guidelines. My concern with Atkins is that once you lost the weight, you would gain it back. Then, what's the point?

well i didn't know it was a high fat content as well i seen people say the fat is at 20-30g of fat which to me is the same as the carb. as far as Grams is concern. I thought banana was fine but i guess not then i have to stick to vegetable tuna and chicken and egg whites which i would eat that in the morning. now how would i eat during the a.m? i work at night but i will be jogging in the morning and then go to bed so i should not ewat post workout due to going to bed after? i should only eat pre workout and not eat again until i wake up right?

After reading some more last night i decided to follow the CKD diet. I stayed up late last night planning it all out on paper. I will do carb-ups on Sundays, hopefully this will help me keep some muscle. I realized I will lose muscle but it is a drastic measure I need to take since I let myself gain alot of excess bodyfat. Its just nasty.... I will put the muscle back on this winter.

atkins is not a logical diet in my opinion it is more of a temporary fix that will bite you in your ass in the end.-Josh

I highly recommend checking out the diet board, there are some good diet gurus on there.

A couple of years ago, I dropped a ton of weight on the Atkins diet. Wasn't really up on the CKD/TKD diets at the time so I just went 20g carbs. I didn't feel it wasted any muscles, but I saw some pictures during that time and I looked emaciated. But it was better than the pictures of me pushing 300lbs. I have been doing low carb for the past 6 months, dropped 30lbs currently at 195 and keeping strength/muscle... but I am also on low dose deca/test cycle. I kickstarted the diet with Atkins for the first month, than changed to a TKD for a couple of months followed up by CKD for a couple of months. CKD/TKD takes a lot more planning than Atkins, you really need to plan out your meals and supplements i.e. RALA for carbups and etc.

here is what to expect....

I have done this kind of diet many times,,,,

1. rapid loss in bodyfat
2. rapid loss in strength until you hit a leveling point
3. massive loss of weight in your first couple weeks then slowing
4. You are going to feel like shit for the first couple of weeks until your body makes the metobolic shift

My opinions on it....

It is great if you need to lose weight fast... It is not so great if you want to maintain a full look and keep your muscle mass. I always look fuller and bigger when I keep some carbs in my diet when cutting. I think AAS's are a must if you want to keep some muscle on this diet....
