Hydrolized whey protein

The real question is how much of a difference there is. I can spend 100's to 1000's of dollars a year more on more specialized forms of protein. Is the difference a lb or 2 in a 6 month to 1 year period or is it closer to a lb 30 to 45 days. I know it will vary for ever person but for me that has always been the question. Marginal benefit vs Marginal Cost.

That's not the real question at all. First of all, it won;t cost hundreds of dollars more. Secondly, bodybuilders are always trying to do whatever it takes to build muscle. And the more muscle you build naturally, the more you'll hold onto. If you want to do it half assed, be my guest. But if something works, I'm going to use it. There are plenty of supplements you can avoid, but protein is essential and the better the protein, the better the potential muscle growth.

Spending more money on more specialized protein forms really doesn't make a whole lot of sense since it has been proven that the only amino acid that controls protein sythesis is leucine.
Having said this protein really isn't needed. Layne Norton said the optimal lecine content per meal should be around 3.2 grams. If one were to eat meals and then add 3.2 grams of BCAA powder per meal, I don't believe you will see any difference at all.
