Hung like a horse

When you get tired of a horse, can you just abandon it in a busy intersection like you would do to a dog?

Sure, just make sure nobody sees you do it, otherwise you'll likely get sued for totaling someone's car. Ever see what a deer does to a car? Multiply by a power of 10. Worst part is, they're noisy when they're in pain. At least deer have the decency to suffer agony in silence!

What Nan and Plank said. If you don't know anything about horses, for god's sake do not buy one for her! It's not a breathing car. It's like a 1,500 lb golden retriever that's stupid.

And realize that owning a horse is roughly like paying for a child living in it's own apartment. A child that takes 5+ pound shits and 2+ gallon pisses on the floor. A child that needs custom made shoes every three months. A child that can't go to the doctor, that you have to have a specialist come to see.

Oh, and if you think taking a dog for a walk twice a day is a drag, imagine needing to go attend to the needs of an animal that lives off site, EVERY DAY, no matter what the weather or how you feel.

You really like her, be smart, buy GF a nice horse sculpture or painting, seriously.

Oh, and y'all know how I got a seriously messed up back? At least a part of the reason is because of horses, i.e., a couple of bad falls while riding as a child (and, just like a motorcycle or bicycle, EVERYBODY falls, sooner or later).

Jesus why the fuck are you always such a Debbie downer? I don't think you even read through this thread did you lollolol. I'm not going to pick the horse out without her, that would be idiotic. I'm a very firm believer that A pet should never be picked out for someone else.

We are paying for the horse to be taken care of so it can eat and shit all day for all I care. We just come whenever we want to ride it or slap it around or whatever. I'm pretty sure the vet stuff is taken care of too but is just tacked o to our tab.

No, I didn't read the entire thread.

If you want to treat it that way, then why don't you just find a well managed stable you can go to regularly that rents out? If you're not going to be caring for the animal, and aren't going to be the ones riding it regularly it has the potential to be a bad scene. The rental horses, if you find the right stable, have a more chill temperament. There's plenty of places that do that, with the bonus that they'll have smaller animals for your daughter to learn on.

I'm a Debbie downer because we owned horses, a LOT of horses (18 at one point) from the time I was in 1st grade until I was in middle school.

I have a really cool knot in my lower quad muscle, it's shaped exactly like a horseshoe, because that's what the bitch who kicked me was wearing when she did it. She was a 15.5 hand 2,000 lb buckskin mare with a vicious temper. I was 10. My leg including my knee turned black. It was cool. Nearly as cool as the time the same horse reared up and fell over backwards with me on top of her. Good times.
