How to eat 6 Whey servings in 1 stting ???

Matman said:
Hey 110% why the protein post work out only? I thought pre was beneficial as well for the rebuilding process. I agree also, 50 grams is plenty from Whey. . . too much in one sitting and you'll shit your liver out.

:D

some ppl like taking the pre workout shake, i just eat a solid meal of carbs and protein around 45 min to one hour arount training, i try to avoid using protein powders as meals as much as possible but rely on powdered whey postworkout only, other than postworkout i have heard too many stories of companies only meeting half their claims of protein in each serving and also just the fact that real food is better. though some ppl do sternly believe int aking pre workout shake, its just my opinon that a meal of real food is just as solid if not better.

I assume you're doing the whole 'protein-pulse' thing although it seems based on pretty dubious science. Bryan Haycock seems to think it still has some potential. What has been your experience thus far?

Yeah, the science is kinda' "dubious" as you stated, but I have seen a lot of positive results. No miracles or anything like that, but I do feel it has helped in my post-workout recovery. I actually got the idea from Duchaine a few years back.

I would say the hardest part is just drinking the crap. I mean, its not bad or anything, but after drinking whey and water for a few weeks, it really has its toll on the taste buds. Actually, the last few months, i have keeped it at around 80 grams because any higher than this, and I have to make 2 shaker bottle worth of it to keep the fluidity. 1 is about all I can handle.

Therefore, I guess I lied on the 10-12 as of recently, but have done it in the past. Right now, it is more like 8 scoops.

BTW...I would be interested in any of Haycock's articles regarding this topic if you could point me in the right direction. He can put out some good articles every now and then....

Thanks guys.. gymrat i think it was your diet that I saw this in:

6 scoups of whey

3 oz of boneless chicken

1-2 cups of broccili

??

if i have six scoops of whey, it's over the course of a day...not at one sitting.

There is no benefit in taking 6 scoops in one sitting at all...

The muscles utilize only a certain amount.

Excessive protein does not do anything except add unnecessary calories.

OK i'm following this diet and the first meal is:
6 scoups of whey... + oatmeal...

Now i bought this stuff from Champion Nutrition called
Pure WHEY Protein Stack. A 22g gram serving give 16g of protein (it's strawberry flavored :p ). I mixed 2 servings in a 400ml of water before.. but how in the world am I supposed to eat 6 damn scoups (6 scoups = 6 servings)

Am I buying the wrong stuff here? Please help

DONT DO IT!.

Whey gets digested to quickly. now if you drinkj too much whye, your body wont be able to digest it all in a short time = big protein poop.

Casein is totally different thing. Casein takes hours to digest so its fine to eat lots of it in one sitting.

Do you limit your protein intake during the rest of the day as was suggested in the original research or did you just "add" 50g more whey to your post-workout shake and keep everything else the same?

I think Haycock's only written one article and it is very short, and doesn't really have much in the way of specifics. You can find it at Haycock's website:

When I started, I was having something like a Myoplex shake in water. Then I switched to A dextrose containing drink and a whey protein. Therefore, I was just adding a little of both (compared to the old myoplex drinks). I wasn't really dieting at the time...just sort of winging it. I am pretty good at guessing the amount of calories I take in without even counting, due to the fact that you just get used to them (the numbers) after working with them so long. I was probably eating somewhere close to maintenance. This was a few years back. I did see a great difference compared to the myoplex drinks.

When I started dieting, I would just figure out my calories for the day and follow a zone type (40/30/30) diet. The 40 was my protein intake, and I would consume half of my protein calories for the day after my workout. I would also have half of my carb intake after this meal. The rest of the carb and protein calories were distributed throughout the day with my fat intake in small meals.

Of course, when bulking, I don't really add up calories since fat gain will be relevant anyway. Therefore, I usually just have a postworkout drink with between 100-120 of each added on to whatever else I am "winging" on my eating...lol. I do have to admit that I AM a little on the "anabolic" side at the moment. If i were not, then I would probably be a little more precise with my counting...but then again, I probably would not eat much over maintenace anyway, thus fat gain would be slower (don't know if that made sense, but it is kind of irrelevant to your original Q).

Lately, I have been really big on EAS's "Creatine Plus" carb drink since it is only like $14 at Wal Mart, and it taste so damn good. I believe it has something like 33 grams of dextrose mixed with 5 grams of creatine per scoop. I'll have 3-4 scoops with 24-30 oz of water when i get into my car after working out. When i get home, i'll shower and have my whey and water. I only have these meals after I workout, which is usually 3-4 times per week.

Not sure if I answered your question...let me know. Take it easy bro.

I was about to say the same thing. Post workout lots of protein would seem ideal, in any other situation taking that much whey to me seems like a waste.
