alright Dwight Howard of orlando magic was just sitting at my fiances table(she works at winterpark cheesecake factory) for 3 hours.. 1 hour and 30 mins after the restaurant had closed.. so finally he gets his bill pays and leaves.. 83 dollar check.. leaves 0 dollars.. now that is beyond fucken ridiculous.. oh ya you guessed it right.. he's black..

HE was confused. Maybe he was not used to being on that side of the transaction.

When I was in the US I did it (anywhere between 10%-20%) but deep down I hated doing it.

I always tip, at leadt 10%, usually up to 25%. Most of the people in these low paying jobs do it, either because they can't do anything else, or their students, transitining to better jobs, or wives returning to the workforce. All of whom deserve better than minimum wage, which isn't enough to live on.

the only time when I did not, was in a really touristic place in NYC. the waiter was a real asshole and shoved our mains down when we were only halfway through our starters.

he got the orders wrong, and was still a pric about it.

I din't tip him, and he called me on it as we were leaving. my response was "I tip usually, quite welll when the service is good..we did not get good service here, and hence no tip".

He then had a crack at us....moron... Mrs.Spanky11 is the editor of a very large travel magazine so she made sure he and his restauarant will not be seeing many scandi customers for a while.

i have several friends (male and female) who work in the restaurant business. they say that people of this ethnic origin are among the worst tippers they serve.
