How much weight do you ladies use?

For your exercises? Example, how much do you use for your bench, dumbell curls, dumbell military press etc? I am curious.

Mmm, well I just did some 200lb deadlifts the other week. But then I started dieting. I'm nowhere near my potential yet, though.

Read spatts' Asylum Numbers thread if you want numbers. :)

Well I'm far from being a power lifter, but I can bench press my weight ( 132 lb ), and I can squat my weight for 3 sets of 10 reps.
Even though I'm not very strong, everyone at my gym thinks that I am...;)
No one can match Spatts though...

These preconceived notions that you should go up "5 pounds every 8 weeks" and such only serve to limit you. You are ALL stronger than you think.

5lbs every 8 weeks! You're kidding, right? I just put 10kgs on my squat, and 20kgs on my dead over and above what I was at when lifts started dropping pre-comp, in about 6-8 weeks. And I just hit, I dunno, 500lbs on the leg press for 12 or something the other day, which is 60-80 kgs more than I was doing just earlier this year. Now if my lower back would just get a bit stronger, the squat and dead might really improve.

I don't really care that much about the numbers, though. I mean, obviously I want to lift heavier for the increased muscle stress, (and because boasting about big numbers is fun) but if the weight I'm at is stressing it optimally for hypertrophy (and some core strength), then the weight itself really isn't that important, is it?

But FWIW spatts, I'm gonna try some PL routines - sled-dragging, chains, bands, etc, next year when I have access to a wider range of equipment and a coach or two. Just for fun! :D

I am mainly trying to see if what my gf is using is appropriate for her. She is not going to be getting anywhere close to the weight Spatt's uses for quite awhile I think. We train together and for example when we do incline dumbell benching I use the 70's-80's and she uses the 35's or somewhere around there. I just want to guage if that is enough weight for her, she says it is and it looks like she is trying pretty hard. Spatt's probably used more than I do! hehe. I only squat around 180 because I am learning to do ATF squats and still have a pinched nerve-OUCH!

I've seen Night Fly deadlift 315 raw like candy...and deadlift 250 x 14 raw. Saw her do 5x5 with 225, 250, 250, 250, 275.

I think she also squatted 205 x 5 for 2 sets too...deep. Maybe I am just a little proud.

If she says it's a good weight & you can see her struggling, then it's probably good. 35# for an incline DB press is pretty good!!! I use 35's for flat bench DB press. (Well I did back before I was no longer allowed to train my pecs with any intensity :bawling: )

Do you suspect that she is wimping out & not putting forth enough effort? Is she getting stronger? She should certainly not go up in weight EVERY workout - especially if she's doing heavy one week for a muscle, & moderate the alternate weeks - but **on the whole** is she getting stronger? If 'yes', it's all good! :D

FYI - my personal max DL is around 170 for 3-5 reps or so, Max squat PL style (to parallel) is also around 170. Max OL style squat is only around 60KG (130#), but rising rapidly. I can bicep DB curl only 20# per hand - stupid things hypertrophy like mad, but don't get any stronger. They also will NOT be getting any stronger in the future b/c I'm not permitted to train them intensely either.
