How much weight can be lost per week with a diet and exersise

How much weight per week (lb, kg) can an average person lose with a fairly good diet and exersise?

Hello Arkan

I have read that a person should lose about 2lb a week, but on my diet i'm losing about 5lb a week.
I have alot to lose also:D

just training....after 4 weeks i normally add some cardio...but only 3 times a week.....now im starting again but starting with cardio and see how that goes....

So would it be right to tell my girl friend that she could expect to lose 2lb a week, doing cardio about 4 - 5 times a week and eating sensibly?

The amount fat lost, is usually depending on your bf%, as to fact: the more fat you are, the more you'll lose.

I would say, at first, a good rule-of-thumb would be between .5lb-2.5lb of body-fat w/ minimal muscle loss if the diet is done right.

I see this question a lot so I will post my personal results. The provided chart shows my weight, and composition over 6 months taken every day at 3 am. The body composition was measured using a Tantia body composition scale (starting in April). I understand the Tantia scales are not very accurate however do track composition TRENDS fairly well. The diet from March to July was about 55p/15c/30f at about 8xWeight calories and BFL training (6 days, 3 weight, 3 HIIT cardio). The diet from July to Aug is a 6/1 CKD at 12xWeight calories and 4 days training (2 weight, 1 cardio and 1 circuit training before carb-up).

lost .3 lbs/day weight .25lbs in fat and about .05 in lean mass (note loss in lean mass includes loss in water and glucose saturation during cutting)

if you go from eating carbs to not eating carbs, like on atkins, you'll lose 10-12 lbs in 1st week and less thereafter-throw in cardio, and you'll lose more weight if you keep a caloric deficit
