About 3 years ago i went to a place like GNC (but much better) to buy some whey protein for working out and i remember a guy telling me that u can only absorb i think he said 32g within like a 4 or 5 hour period any more than that would be pointless. I got to thinking about that as i was chommping down on my 10th egg white and i was wondering if anymore would be pointless so i decided to get on here and type this up. Someone which some knowledge on this please tell me if u can only absorb so much and within how long thanks alot!

Now I don't read many magazines, but my roommate gets Mens Health, and an article in there quoted a certified (cscs) fitness trainer as saying you only need 30g of protien a day to build muscle.

Honestly, I think that is wayyyy low. I used to consume over 225g of protien, at a bodyweight of 175, when I had about 15% bf. That was probably too much.

I believe the concensus is 1g of protien per # of LBM.
Maybe more inf your bulking- but up it slowly, don't jump 50g pf protien in one day.

Well, I've checked a couple protein calculators for myself (5'3", 123lbs, 37yrs, very active) and they all stated somewhere around 74gm/day. When I used to compete in BB and was trying to gain as much lean tissue as possible my diet was providing ~ 120-150gm/d. Back then I had a whole lot more lean tissue to support that much intake, but now it would just be stupid.

Most people also used to use the gm to gm 1/2 per pound of bodyweight ration when BB/competing.

The recommended level of protein intake is 12-15% of total calories. For the general population 0.8 grams per kilogram of body weight. For the serious athelete, 1.5-2.0 per kilo of BW.
