How Much Protein Should I Consume

Blak01

Hey,

I'm about 5'8" and weigh about 240lbs.

Here are my questions:

1.) After working out (weight training), how much protein should I consume. I'm on a vegetarian diet and have been eating veggie patties (two of them) and a half cup of almonds right after my workout - which equate to about 45 or so grams of protein. Is this okay or should I be eating something else?

2.) Do I need to consume protein throughout the day as well? Or just after the workout and when I wake up in the morning?

And lastly, is protein, protein? Meaning, does it matter where it comes from? I'd rather eat natural food than drink those protein drinks.

Thanks!

you want protein and carbs after your workout
take out those almonds and add in some fruit
throughout the day i shoot for 50/50 of protein/carbs
then when it gets closer to bed i keep my protein up but take out the carbs and add in healthy fats
you want protein throughout the day so that your body is constantly supplied with amino acids in the blood stream to support muscle building and to keep you out of a catabolic state

I shoot for 300g of protein a day and I'm between 280 and 290 lbs (depending on how much I sweat that day).

I eat as much as possible at all times. Breakfast, post workout, mid day, snack, dinner, snack, before bed. I couldn't do this on a Veg diet.

Yea, personally i find 1.5x JUST attainable but 2x wont hurt either.

So at 240lbs you think I should be eating 360 to 480 grams of protein everyday?

I eat 2 to 3 times my body weight in grams of protein daily.

I weigh 225-230, and eat from 450 up to 700 grams of protein a day depending on how many hours I'm awake and my level of activity.

There are a lot of other things that go into it though. Diet is very individualized.

If you are trying to gain muscle and are working out with heavy weights/high intensity, then I recommend 2 grams of protein per lb. of body weight. Of course, 2-3 gals/water/day, and some bromelain (not more than 2500-3000 GDU's/day).

Like I said, diet is very individualized. I wouldn't recommend the same diet for a short, fat 250 lb'er as I would a tall, skinny 180 lb'er.

I did not know this. I checked and the brand I use is only 600GDU per 500mg pill. I have been taking them with at least 3 or 4 meals(red meat meals) a day. Very good supp if you are consuming high amounts of protein. One of those supps that not many BBs think about.

has bromelain ever caused upset stomach in you bros using it?
