How Much Protein Are U Guys Using?!!!!

I am currently taking in 500+ grams a day but my carbs are at 150. I feel if you keep you carbs low and supplement the calories from the lost carbs with protein you have more of a chance to build muscle and loose fat. This is just my opinion and it seems to work for me and a few other guys I know. I came down from a sloppy 255 to 230 and lean with doing very minimal cardio and also no gear. My caloric intake stayed the same but I just lowered carbs and upped protein. ALso I dont get as hungry since I am eating so much. Plus 5 meals are true food and 3 are from shakes. Like I said this is just my opinion and is something I tried and happens to work for me.

too much protein?

Can you eat too much protein?
The answer is yes and no.
There is no set amount of protein that is too much.
Each person can assimilate different amounts of protein.
The physiological ceiling can change from person to person with the same body weight. According to Dr. Loren Cordain, Ph.D., professor Department of Health and Exercise Science Colorado St. University, the main variable in amount that can be used healthfully is how well the liver can metabolize the nitrogen that is a by product od protein metabolism.

Nitrogen is eliminated when the body turns it to urea in the liver and we rid ourselves of it through urine and feces. For the liver to do this conversion a number of enzymes need to be present and then a regulated and a manufactured enzyme is needed. The rate limiting enzyme is called argininosuccinate synthetase. The enzyme cannot be simply raised in levels as protein ingestion continues to rise. Isotopic tracer studies in humans show that the mean rate of maximal urea synthesis is 65mg nitrogen per kg body weight to the 0.75 power. If your intake of protein exceeds the body's ability to convert nitrogen to urea, then excess nitrogen spills into the blood stream as ammonia and amino acids. This leads to nausea, diarrhea and electrolyte inbalances and ultimately death if the protein intakes continue for weeks and months. Protein poisoning will probably not occur if the intake is kept under about 35-40% of total energy consumed. As long as high levels of fruits and veggies are taken with the protein (35% of energy) high levels of protein are actually quite good for us. It lowers blood cholesterol, increases HDL levels, and increases resting metabolism. It also reduces the risk of high blood pressure and coronary heart disease.

right now i weigh 204 and am off cycle(just finshed 3 weeks ago), and am taking in 250-300 grams a day, when i was on, i was taking in close to 400, sometimes 450. i think adjustment is based on what youre cycling, and how you feel while "on". if you're growing, keep it the same, if you're not, up it until you start growing again.

good point barbells....u are correct...each person is different and will need to adjust accordingly. The least amount should be 1.5 grams per pound of bodyweight.

If the gear is legit and u are not gaining it is usually your diet! I have to be careful to eat a good diet (carbs and some fat) with high protien....or I get terrible gas and a bad stomach ache!

thanks for the tips guys. looks like its an individual thing when it comes to high protein intake.

I agree with you guys. You got to find out what works for your body. Everyone is diff. Im not sure exactly how much protien I get I dont have the best diet but when I try to get as much as much protien as possible and take bars and shakes and eat eggs like hell my lifts definity go up and I feel much stronger and healthy. I think I average about 250 - 300 grams of protien when im doing heavy lifting. I start my first cyc OCt first Deca 400mg and Sust 500mg a week. I will prolly have to really start concentrating on eating more protien.
