How much gain in lifts in 1 yr?

I have been into BBing for two years, but have just started powerlifting the past few months. I am 177 lbs, 5'8", 36 yrs. old, and my max lifts are about 400-310-400.
From your experience, what are the expected maxes one year from now with strict, but not excessive, training?
I would love to hit 500-350-500, but I have no idea if this is realistic in 12 months. My advantage is I have just started being serious about this, so I haven't leveled off yet on my increases.

Who cares man?

If anybody here gives you a number on how much you'll gain, then don't believe it. Is it possible? Yes. But you're not going to the magic PLing store and buying 100 lbs on all your lifts for one year of your time. Some people will struggle for 5 years to gain the knowledge it takes to add just 15 lbs to a lift. Look at D. Tate and his bench. Other people will find the right way, and have the right training partners around them, and everything just clicks and they can put 500 lbs on their total in a year.

That said, for your numbers and your weight, you already have a very strong BP, and your SQ and DL will go up more easily. If you're completely new to powerlifting, check out www.elitefts.com as a starting point.

Nobody can tell you how much you'll gain or what your potential is. Do the best you can and you'll be happy with it.
I was frustrasted this year at the progress of my bench press- only about 5 or 10 lb increase (keep in mind that i'm female and 5lbs is a larger percentage for me than it is for you). I was talking to Rickey Dale Crain, who reminded me that for years he only increased his bench by 5lbs a year.

good luck,
gabrielle

Hey Tao-

My advice to you would be work to find out where your weaknesses are, and go after them. Also find a group of guys with the same goals of getting stronger, and learn from their knowledge.
