how much cardio is too much?

i think i read somewhere that you shouldn't do more than two hours of cardio total per WEEK, but i can't remember where? that would mean that if i do cardio 3xs/wk, each session shouldn't be more than 40min. does this sound right? i should probably mention that i am a 30yr old male, all natural, with about 15-20 lbs of fat to lose.

thx.

I would suggest 4 40 minute blocks or cardio ideally in the morning on an empty stomach when your glyocgen is depleted would be sufficent. In addition to sensible nutrition of course!

Yeah... running in the mornings on an empty stomache will shed fat pretty quickly. Do you train with weights also? If so, then run after lifting. It helps too. I usually run in the mornings for about thirty min. on an empty stomache. Then after my workouts in the evening. So I run everyday. from thirty min. to an hour split. So I average about 4 hours and thirty min. a week.

Once again, this issue is one based on individual differences. It is going to depend on your diet, your body type, and if you are cycling AAS or not. Myself, if I cycle my cardio between brief and intense cardio and long slow distance, I lose almost no muscle. On the otherside of this issue is one of my colleauges at work, if he so much as looks at a treadmill he'll lose 5 pounds. The moral of this story? Experiment with your intake and your cardio to see what works best for you.
