Nice, and I believe you too. I've seen your quads.Quadsweep said:685 x 2 a couple of years ago. Knees don't like that anymore . I guess I am getting old!![]()
Silly question, but how'd you get 501 on the bar? I've never seen 1/2 lb plates.snobben said:501 pounds. Bodyweight 165 pounds.
17 years old i did 440 pounds, bodyweight 132 pounds.
I used to do that, but vomiting isn't fun. Call me a pussy but that just isn't something I can look forward to. In my older years I don't punish myself as much. I normally won't go over 15 reps. How many of you guys do maxes on what you rep to failure with, like max effort with 315 or 225 ??

Actually you bring up a good point when it comes to squats. I'm ~6'2 and sometimes squat with this short Italian fire hydrant who squats maybe 100 lbs. more than me. I would concede he is stronger than me, but not as much as it seems, because his range of movement is about half of what mine is with his stubby hairy little tree trunk stumps he calls his legs. Hell, when he spreads his legs apart to squat, he probably only has to move the bar about 6 - 8 inches to perform a 90 degree squat. Plus he's got a huge ass and a thick wide waist and is hairy like a fockin grizzly---so you can imagine what the chicks look like that he gets----probably the same.serge said:who cares?.............a better question would be: How good do you look?
Like fingernails on a blackboard to me when I see that.I see guys at my gym throw 3-4 plates on a side, then proceed to drop down like 6 inches - and they call that a squat. What BS.

To me, if your thighs do not at LEAST go parallel to the floor, you have not gone low enough.
But most guys get SO focussed on how much IRON is on the bar (instead of doing the movement correctly) that they do half-assed squats. Same with bench presses, curls, cable rows, etc. Its sad.
I do full sets of squats with only 275 on the bar. Not a lot - right? But I know guys that will put like 400-500 on the bar and could never do my 275 and drop as low as I do.
Plus, I have been blessed with large legs, I dont work them too much becuase if I do, they get oput of proportion to the rest of me.
Anyway, its not just about "how much iron". Form and the speed of the movement have a tremendous effect.
