How light did you START as a BEGINNER?

if an exercise is foreign to you, just start with the bar, and add weight accordingly. on some exercises you will need to add some weight to get the true feeling, such as squats, and some olympic lifts like the snatch, power clean, etc.

how much is enough? if you are just starting out, 6-8 reps is good range for you to practice on your form.

When i started:

Squats: 95 lbs

shrugs: 45 lb dumbbells

Deadlifts [stiff leg]: 135 lbs

Bench: 95 lbs

Military Press: 15 lb dumbbells [arnold press]

Leg press: 1 plate on either side

when I first started several years ago:

Bench: 115lbs for 15 reps
Squats: 120lbs for 8 reps
Barbell Rows: 50lbs for 6 reps
Lying French Presses: 70lbs for 6 reps

For some reason, I never did shoulder presses.

I dont remember when I first started, but I know I had already been training for around 5 years at home then college before I joined a real gym, and even then I still had trouble benching a plate per side(135).

I remember when I first started, I was as clueless as can be. I went ot the gym, thinking I would get strong on the machines. then I tried 115 on incline, and I ended up dropping it on myself.

i started out on the SOLOFLEX. all i did was mainly chest and biceps and abs.
