I want to add oats in the morning along with my protein shake, but I have no clue how to make the oats . Do you just boil it ? If so, what do you add to it to make it taste better ?

Thanks

when i don't have time to use the stove, or want to clean the pot after (lazy much? lol)...

Microwave...

Oats dry... mix in a couple packets of splenda, some dashes of cinnamon to taste... add water... add frozen mixed fruit from the deep freeze...

2 minutes later after nuked... splash some milk on there, mix up... :RADAR

Man, the best way I've found is just put 1/2 cup oats in the bowl...3/4 water and stir...microwave until cooked (the water will evaporate into the oats)...then I stir in some all-natural honey from the health food store...I let it cool for about 10-15 minutes then eat it in like 2 minutes tops...You can add some almonds in to if you like...I've also tried just putting peanut butter in it and that is not bad...I tried just putting Splenda in it and didn't care for it.

I do that only in a paper plate so than i can chuck the damn thing. works with 1/2 cup oats and 3/4 cup.. any more and the water overflows :)

Don't you guys have instant oatmeal?

All you do is add hot water, mix for about 10 secs and it's ready, tada!

hate to say it but all oatmeal is instant or close to it.
put a bowl of water in the micro for 2 minutes on high. then drop in a handful of oat and eat it. the oats soften up in under a minute

in a hurry -

put oats in bowl
pour water/milk in til either just covered or like an 1/8-1/4" higher than he oats (depends how you like it - sticky or not)
and nuke it for 1-2 min depending on your microwave

you can put raisins, sliced bananas in it or splenda or splend and cinnamon (put the fruit in before you nuke it)

whatever floats your boat and suits your diet

that said - food is better cooked the old fashioned way but time is time

Raw oats blended into chocolate whey usually go down pretty smooth.

yea, i just put a cup of oats in a bowl, add warm water and then microwave..

i USED to use the stove, but i hate to do the dishes much like sarge..

I like to cook the 5 minute oats (not instant) in the microwave and eat them plain. Blending raw oats into the protein shake is good, also having raw oats soaked in water w/o cocking is good. I dont like to add any artificial chemicals into them.

I put as many dry, raw oats as I can fit into my mouth, add water, do my best to swallow, then repeat! When I have to look civil, I add the tiniest bit of boiling water and it makes it sooo easy to just eat with a spoon!

I just throw the oats in a bowl with a scoop of powder and some milk and eat it like cereal. Its was kinda gross at first, but i got used to it and love it now.

I use instant oatmeal (flavored with some maple syrup) with about 6 ounces of light soymilk. Tastes great, gives me some soy (great for the heart), and isn't full of calories. OK OK, so the glycemic index might be a little off with the maple syrup flavoring!

Forgot to mention....I work at a VERY VERY professional company and work environment and people already think I'm a goof ball b/c of my diet habits....so playing into this, I have an empty birdseed back and put oats in there, and just have the bag on my desk and eat from it during the day! provides for good laughs

i heat up a cup of milk (2%) in the microwave for a couple of minutes and add it to the oats. its usually ready in about 3-5 minutes. slice up a banana and mix that in there and thats half my breakfast. the other half is 2 whole eggs 4 whites (boiled) and 1-1 & 1/2 tomatoes.

Sometimes in the morning I make a bowl but I prefer grits pre-workout. Usually, if I am too lazy to make a real meal I go 1 c oats, 2 scoops protien, 1 bannana, 2 c skim milk, and 2 T Natty PB. Fills me up nice. Rarely cook them though, cant eat them all before I'm full.

Soak my rolled oats in skim milk for about 5 minutes, then add a packet of splenda and a good sprinkle of cinnamon. Or mix dry oats with a cup of whey, then add milk, stir well, and let it sit for 5 mins.

Cooked oats sucks. Unless they are cut, or irish style.

These days I a making mine with a little anpb mixed in while cooking, and after its done I add flax oil and a dash of splenda. Something like 1/2 cup rolled oats before cooking with tbps anpb, 1 tbps flax oil.
