How Can I Tell

when it's time for me to move from a full body w/o to a split body. I'm so excited, my weight bench is being delivered today, and by the weekend, I should have my weights, and the bench should be set up and ready for use.

Now I've being doing a dumbell workout for about as long as I've been a member here. Full workout 3x's a week. I've been substituting the barbell for squats and deadlifts, and usually after those 2 exercises I'm through for the count, save 2 exercises following those.

I'm wondering if it would be more beneficial to do splits now, or sometime in the near future. I will be implementing the bb a little more, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out it's heavier than my dumb bells.

So what are your thoughts on this?

I'd switch to a split anytime. Even a beginner can do a split - it isn't anything reserved for only "advanced" people. :)

you should be doing one body part per day imo

Ok Kewl. I have the rest of this week to research and try to get a split routine together. Hey how many exercises per body part? Around 4? And how does a split typically look by body part groupings?

You can look at the Shadow Thread for that set of muscle groups. I think the site Shadow often refers to is a great source of info on exercises & muscle stuff as well: exrx.net. They describe some ways to build a program.
