help with cutting

Alright, I would like to start my first cutting cycle, and I want to get it all right the first time...so i'm gonna need some help here, what are the main factors that i need to keep in check. Can I just keep eating my normal intake and drop in cardio and expect to see some fat loss? Right now, I've been gaining weight, but little fat, and was just thinking that dropping cardio in would help?? if so, how often and pre or post workout?

Cardio alone will do little to cut you up if your diet isn't sound. Diet is 75% of cutting if not more.

I'm cutting now and doing about an hour of cardio, three days a week on my off days.

I'd say find out how many calories you're eating now, and try cutting back a few hundred at a time until you're losing fat. don't suddenly drop 1000 calories off your daily intake or you'll be starving.

if you're eating close to maintenance now, then cardio might tip the balance in favor of fat loss, but dieting helps a lot.

I don't subscribe to the calorie theory. Sure, calorie in/out for WEIGHT loss, but losing fat while preserving as much muscle as possible requires a little more science, IMO.

As I've mentioned before, I carb cycle to cut. I eat the same amount of protein and fat every day...but then I eat more carbs on training days and less carbs on non training days. My last cutting cycle looked like this:

Spatts' Cutting Diet

This diet is an average of 100g carbs. Low days would be 50 ish, and high days would be 150 ish......but that's just based on my LBM (which I figure as 10 x lean mass).

At the time I was training first thing in the AM, so just disregard that, but at least you get an idea of the ratios and food choices.

I also don't use most of those sups anymore.

Damn...I need to update my spreadsheet. :)
