Help Guards pick his new hunting rifle:)

I didn't read through your links so I don't know if you have this one down but have you considered a 7 mag as an option. One of me best friends hunts whitetail with it and it is plenty big to drop a moose. Someone said a 22-250......? You would have to put 3 rounds in the mooses head to drop him. LOL Bam

The only problem with a 7 mag is that it is expensive to hit the range with. They are almost 2 bucks a round! Even if you reload the fuckers yourself.

22-250 for moose would just make him mad OR the moose might just look at you and laugh:)

Between a Ruger and a Remington, I'd take the Remington. Of course I own almost all Remingtons and I'm an accuracy nut being a former competitive rifle shooter.

Hitting a target depends on your abilities and your scope right?
Why go cheap ?

Very true

dont you already have a snipper riffle in .308 ? Why not use it ?

My sniper rifle isn't very well suited for hunting. I would feel very nervous bringing it out on a long hike for fear of banging the scope etc.

I would rather hunt with a 1500 dollar rifle than a 5000 dollar rifle.....I wouldn't cry that much over a broken scope that cost 300 bucks but i would be REAL pissed if i broke my 2000 dollar optics just out hunting deer.
