Hard evidence of losing weight with exercise.

Ok, this question seems like a no brainer. I however am running across some difficulty in finding some scientific studies that show that diet and exercise can make a person that is morbidly obese lose weight and keeping with that routine, keep it off.

In this thread, slackergirl states that she will pay anybody 100 dollars that can offer evidence. Not a whole lot, and I am not expecting to get paid for it. (as in she is lying and wouldn't pay) but having this blatently false information sitting in front with a backup payment offered makes the uninformed think she knows what she is talking about. I must find some kind of evidence to prove her wrong, and show that exercise and diet combined can make ANYBODY lose weight and feel good.

Anybody know of any solid scientific studies posted online about this I can use as a source?

I don't see anything in the link you gave that contradicts slackergirl, but maybe I overlooked it. Can you quote exactly what you're referring to?

What do you mean. Slackergirl says "Exercise will not make an obese person loose weight" I give a link that has several studies that indicate that exercise does indeed induce weight loss, how is that not contradicting her?

Exercise has been evaluated as a single treatment for obesity, in combination with diet, and for maintaining weight loss

Several studies have evaluated the effect of exercise alone in inducing weight loss

.
While it may be difficult to lose weight with exercise alone, there appears to be an independent effect of exercise itself on body fat

It goes on and on.

I thought slackergirl's bet was that you couldn't find a study that showed that 50% (or even 15%) of the participants lost weight with diet and exercise and kept it off for 5 years.
