good beginner/nutrition bb books???

I am looking for a good bb book for beginners. Something that covers the basics of weight training and nutrition. I am not new to eating clean and basic weight training. I am just wanting a book that can help me understand how this (muscles, vitamins, nutrition, etc) really works.
I have seen posts from you very well educated mods:) and have learned alot, I just have many, many questions and hope to find a book that can help.

Golds Gym Encylopedia? Ironman series:I was looking at the nutritional guide and natural bb?

A very good place to start is Bill Phillips' "Body For Life". Good, balanced approach to getting started, despite the push for his EAS products.

I can spend hours upon hours gazing into Arnolds Encyclopedia of Modern BB!
However, many of his concepts and views are outdated and should not be taken fullheartedly.

Thanks, I will look into all mentioned info.
I do agree, there is excellent info right here, but sometimes it is just too hard to put in words. Sometimes I am not sure what I am talking about. I just end up sounding like a moron!

I agree, Elite Fitness has just about everything you could need to know, and if you can't find it, you can ask.

Otherwise, www.thinkmuscle.com is a good spot - they have some very interesting articles there.

Another web spot with good articles is the NFPT (NFPA???) ... uuuhh, sorry, can't remember the exact acronym - I think it's NFPT.

For real world books, believe it or not, two of the first books I read were Weight Training for Dummies and Nutrition for Dummies.

Then there's the "Encyclopedia of Weight Training", by Paul somebody or another and his brother (or pal - sorry, it's packed in a box right now, can't check :( )

Also, the NSCA's "Essentials of Strength Training and Conditioning" is excellent.

Another great nutrition book is "Power Eating" by Susan Kleiner, but take care, she recommends a LOT of carbs.

I like just about anything by Poliquin, but some people don't.

testosterone.net has a lot of interesting articles

And the WSB site also has lots of good info.

Oh, and alt.weights.misc is where Lyle Macdonald and Ezra Volk and the woman (Krista) from stumptuous hang out, and there's lots of very good info there, too.

Hope this helps ....

Oh, for actual exercises, Bill Pearl's "Keys to the Inner Universe" is huge, and detailed.

Also, another one called "Muscle Mechanics" shows exactly what muscles are being worked by what exercises, great diagrams.

I find the Ironman series to be a little too geared towards men only ....

In my bb library I have Cory Everson's Superflex, Anja Langer's book, Body Flex, Body Magic, and some by Rachel McLish. I also have Optimum Nutrition. I've heard that Chris Aceto and Laura Creavalle's books on nutrition are good, too, and plan to get those within the next few months.

Hope this helps. :)
