now if you want to talk about gaining weight without steroids, i can help you out here. I am natural up to this point. I have been working out for almost 2 years and have gained 52lbs of muscle. Although i am no pro, my results speak for themselves. I do know what i am talking about. Gaining weight is not a science. The first and foremost thing to do is learn how to work out properly and effectively. This sounds trivial, but its the truth. Find a guy a big guy at the gym and befriend him. Ask him for advice. I grabbed a big dude at the gym and started working out with him, and it probably eliminated years of learning on my own. Now, as far as working out...
Start working out about4-5 times a week. do 2 body parts a day. example: monday:chest+tri's Tues:back+bi's wed: off thurs:legs+shoulders fri:off repeat
Stick to your basic movements. forget thetricep extensions and stuff. Build a base. do heavy lift and compound movements.
Chest: Bench press, incline bench press, Dumbell flyes
back: deadlifts, pull-ups, rows, tbar rows
bi's: straight bar curls, preachers, dumbell curls
tri's: DIPS!, skull crushers; close grip bench, press downs
legs: SQUATS! calf raises, leg press
shoulders: military press, lateral raises.

For most of the heavy lifts (bench, rows, squats), i like to keep my reps around 3-8, depending on how i fell. you will learn when to lift heavy and when to add more reps, so dont worry. Wait about a minute and a half between sets. you arent going for endurance, so dont rush. Dont socialize all day either. You get out what you put in. Workout like a pussy= look like a pussy. As far as diet goes, EAT MORE! eat numerous times a day. Eat lots of protien.Get used to esating meat and potatoes, you will grow. Dont stuff yourself at one sitting, eat till you are satiated. When you are a litlle hungry, eat again. Basically kepp food in your stomach. Start drinking more milk. You notice how even when you are full, you can still drink something? Perfect time for a big glass of milk. 150 more calories +8 grams of protien a cup. gotta love it.

If you are doing this and still not gaining weight, check you pants. You may actually have a vagina.

JohnyJuice:

Your advice ,while I assume it is well meant, is extremely basic and quite condescending. Furthermore, befriending a 'big guy' in the gym doesn't mean that you will receive sound advice on lifting and gaining. I know a few 'big guys' who don't know jack about what they are doing.

hardgainer (my two cents)

Maybe you, but most folks I know would shrivel up and die training HARD for 4-5 days a week. The average joe can't take that. 4 days a week tops if your volume is lower. The rest, i agree with.

it is not meant to be condescending. It is just an example of what has worked for me as well as 2 of my friends who have done what i have done.
