Fury Test(at the Dungeon)

New member
Well boys and girls the moment you've all been waiting for. We got together today and tested the Fury by Titan.

Met at the Dungeon at 11. It was me, Benchmonster, Screwball and VDOP. I started with speed bench with a doubled mini, just because I needed to do speed today. Then they started warming up and working up to shirts with boards. Screwball had his fury, Bench had his assorted shirts, I worked with the Fury too and VDOP used one of Bench's shirts.

It went like this, Screwball worked up to 455 off a 3 board which touched with ease. Then went to 455 to chest, did not touch. It may take close to 500 to touch his chest in this shirt. Bench went up to 550 off boards then did the same to the chest. It touched but with some trouble. At the bottom he had to go loose to let the weight touch, when it hit his chest he immediately told us to take it, which we did. Something had gone wrong in his elbows when the bar hit his chest. Luckily he wasn't hurt and hopefully it won't hold up his training. VDOP used Bench's shirt that he got from Hannibal. He got 405 for 2 or 3 singles off boards then tried to get it to his chest, it wouldn't go down. I also used Screwball's Titan, as mine has not come in yet!. I went to 315 first off a 3 board and got it easy. Then went 405 and kinda missed groove and kinda pushed towards my head. I think I could have got it if I would have been a little more used to it. The weird thing is 315 touched pretty easy but the 405 didn't want to touch. I had to go loose to make it touch which made the lift more difficult.

After that we went to reverse grip 3 board presses(thanks to Irish's site for telling about these). Bench went up to 365 for 6, I think. Screwball went 365 for 3. VDOP went up to 315. And I got 315 for 2, rough reps. Then did chest supported rows. Then did triceps pushdowns with the bands. We all used the blues and greens. That was a lot more tension than I would have thought. But we all got them good. Then we did drop sets using the blues and greens for 10, then blues for 10 then greens for 10.

Then we ate spagetti. Lots and lots of spagetti.

All in all a good workout. The new Fury shirt is gonna be BIG. I am now worried about mine because Screwball's fit me pretty well, actually quite tight in the arms. And the measurements I gave Titan, which are accurate, were chest a few inches smaller than Screwball's and arms an inch smaller than Screwballs. Hopefully it will fit. Mine is supposed to be in on Monday and will test it out on Wednesday. Will let you all know how mine works out when it gets here.

Later!

Sounds good bro. I hope you learn it and feel natural in it. Why dont you fly here and let me check it out!! Seriously though, if 315 touched its too loose. Yours will fit you better. Screwball is a big ass man. I know your prety big too but little measurements here and there can change ALOT.

Is benches elbow ok? I hope so i would to see his progress halt right now. He is on a roll. So are you keep it up and be safe.

FINALLY!!

Glad to hear that the shirt is for real. Might have to invest in one. Spatts has hers coming in around the end of the month. Looking forward to see what she can get out of it.

Did I read that right? 55 pounds to Screwballs bench with the shirt?

She says, licking her lips....I have a feeling you are going to get more than that.

Hey BigOkie- You didnt beat me back here by much!

I dont know about the rest of you guys but I think my elbows are going to be hurting tommorow. Dont know if it was the lockouts or Rev 3 boards, but Im a little tender right now. We'll see how it feels in the morning with a little ice and rest.

What do you guys think It would have taken for that shirt I had on to touch? Another 50lbs maybe? Im pretty jacked after my PR on the 3 boards. I have a feeling BigOkie and me will make it over the 400 hump in a meet before the years up!

Oh, and BigOkie-let us know IF(hehe) your shirt makes it in tommorow.

Later..

First things first, VDOP EAT ME!!! It will be here tomorrow or I will fly to Texas and kick someones ass!

Spatts, Screwball didn't max out. What he did was test the water to see what would touch. He is a low to mid 4 bencher raw. He has never had a shirt that would work right. This is probably gonna be the one. With this shirt he will go over 5, easy! He has the lockout and the speed, with a little form work 5 will fly.

Jay, you kinda read wrong. The first time I tried it on I only had 315 on the bar, it touched a 3 board. The next time I loaded 405 and it wouldn't touch. So somehow we managed to adjust the shirt tighter. I think we just pulled it on further and worked it down more.

To all those thining of ordering one, I would definately suggest it. All I can say is order it at least 4-6 weeks early.

Peace!

PS Screwball has some pics that will be posted soon
(So Deciever please stand by!!)

Finally, the Fury has been put to the test. Sorry for the wait everyone but I needed to test the Titan shirt with the help of experienced lifters. These are my personal feelings on the shirt:

- I need the help of at least one other person to get into the shirt but it is much easier to get into than a closed-back poly.

- The shirt is very light and fairly comfortable when on. It's cooler when on than a poly or denim.

- It didn't leave any real markings after use. When using the shirt I felt the most pressure at the seam that runs down the arm (on the tricep). Also, serious pressure across the chest as the shirt is stretched but this to be expected of any shirt that is fitted properly

- The groove is more forgiving than a denim's groove much like any standard poly shirt.

- I think it's real important when getting into the shirt that it is pulled on evenly so that the seams fall in the right places and there is no twisting in the material. The shirt must be "seated" evenly for it to be most effectively used.

- It felt like a got a greater range of "push" within the bench stroke (75% of stroke) than I ever received with my denim shirt (at most 50%).

- Even though the Fury is a closed-back shirt, I still had the ability to adjust the shirt up and down (not nearly as much as an open- backed shirt however) to some degree. If another person can reach in through the neck of the shirt and pull the pecs up so that they are seated higher in the shirt you can get more out of the shirt (Bmonster showed us this technique and it really works).

- I would recommend the Competition Cut for everyone. Why not just go for the best, especially, when it doesn't cost you anymore money. Get the Competition Cut.

- The only thing about the shirt that I have a problem with is that it isn't long enough. This may not be a problem for most but I need the shirt about another 4" - 6" longer in order to pull it down and secure it with a belt effectively.

- I recommend the shirt for all level of lifters. You could throw it on a newbie and it would be effective. There isn't nearly the learning curve involved that you have with a denim shirt.

Today was another great training day at the Dungeon. Thanks to Bmonster and his family for the hospitality. I always have a great time. The spaghetti was awesome!

BigOkie, pretty much broke down the workout above so I'll just add a couple of things.

The shirt work is the best I've had in quite some time so I was pleased. I hit the shirted 455 off of a 3-board fairly easily. I had to pull just a little in order to get the bar down to the board but not bad. Then, I tried to hit a competition 475 but I couldn't get it down the last 1" - 2" so I called for help but when I pushed on the bar it felt like it flew up rather easily so I think the shirt really gives a good "pop" out of the hole. I think it will take 495 - 505 to touch so the only real question is, "Can I lock it out?" I don't think I'm too far off so I feel confident about hitting around 500 by the end of this year.

We hit reverse bench presses off of a 3-board next and they seemed to work the triceps and lats hard. I got 5-6 clean reps at 315 and 1 clean rep at 365 (the 2nd rep was ugly as I nearly passed out from exertion).

Next we did chest supported barbell rows (arm-stretchers) and these really hit the lats hard. We tried to pull the bar low to our bellies which made the movement even more difficult but it really targeted the lower lats and erectors somewhat.

We finished off with band pressdowns. We used a combination of the blues and greens which was a hell of a lot of tension. My triceps are fried.

I also got the chance to try out Bmonster's new shoulder horn and I was really impressed. I only used 5 lb. plates in each hand but I felt a good burn in my shoulders. Anyone with chronic shoulder problems should definitely invest in a shoulder horn.

I'll try and get the training pictures to someone (Deciever???) for posting tonight. Thazzit! :D

BigOkie-Just picking on you. I know I will have to eat my words next time we are all together and you have it with you.

Im anxious to see what your impression of the shirt is. That fXXcker seams almost bulletproof. What shirts have you used before this one. Im still loyal to my skimpy poly, but when I grow up and develop a lockout like the rest of you monsters, I can see that denim will be the shit!

You guys were saying something when I was doing one of my sets about the height I was lifting the bar out to. I missed exactly what you were meaning. Were you trying to say I had a long stroke(hehe-contrary to what my wife says) or did you mean something about the way I was taking it out?

Thanks again Bench for having us over, your a hell of a cook. And dont let Emerill Legase tell you otherwise-he cant bench!

Later..

What about "weight to touch".. could getting a competition cut keep you from touching a weight?.. What about us weak benchers?

How do we order a shirt if we need.. say.. 315 to touch? Order it looser?
