For a vegetarian, is it ok to get majority of protein from shakes?

whey is digested too quickly, soy protein shake + fiber and or fat should be ok, but there are other things you can eat for protein, like tofu/peanut butter and many types of beans and grains. soy milk, even cow milk and eggs if you are that type of vegetarian.

depends just how vegan you are
and your morals

most protien is from whey (milk products)
or casein (egg)

but there is also soy based protien
but is not a good choice for bb's
soy tends to promote estrogen production

what estrogens does it promote production of?

Didn't Bill Pearl's diet consist mainly of eggs and protein powder? He didn't do too badly :) , although his genetics weren't that bad either :D

nothing wrong with eggs

i was just cautioning against soy protien for body bro's

obi: In those links I didn't see anything about soy promoting estrogen production. (I've read most of them before anyway.)

Cut: hell yeah, bill pearl had some of the best abs I've ever seen (at one point in time) :)

Depending on how much of a vegan you are you can use all kinds of foods for protein........eggs, PB (natty), beans, Gimme Lean (meatless sausage), meatless burgers & crumbles, TVP (it's like ground beef).

You can also add flavorless protein powders to foods like pancakes, etc.

I had to go back to eating meat cuz I couldn't get enough protein myself...
