Fish oil is a better choice for omega-3s as its omega-3 content is long-chain.

Golden advice. I cannot stress strongly enough that not only is fish oil cheaper (at least where I live) but it will have a more positive health benefit than flax seed oil. Flax is all pretty much contain ALA, which is like, a pre-DHA, whereas fish oil has DHA in it. The importance of this mechanism currently escapes me but I'm sure you can Wiki/Google it.

Flax seed science for bodybuilding was great, fish oil science is newer. And better.

In my opinion.

i once cosumed Flax Oil daily until i did a bit more research.
I'm always sceptical about products kept in dark bottles and this confirms my scepticism.
RANCIDITY-
Flax Oilhas been heavily promoted for years as 'esential' for health, and many people force themselves to take a tablespoon daily, even though they don't loike the taste. This is misguided, according to Dr.PEAT, who considersit"the most carcinogenic of oils"! The British alternative medical newsletter, What Doctors Don't Tell You, carried out exhaustive tests on all the brands of Flax Oil sold in London. They found that most were rancid, which is dangerous because rancidity promotes cancer. Two were not rancid, but the magazine reported that they turned rancid after a few days of refrigeration.

Next time a health professional urges you to consume this oil, ask why it comes in a dark bottle and must be refrigerated after opened. Commonsense dictates that this because it is highly unstable and readily break downs into free radicals. If that doesn't scare you, this should: under the influence of unsaturated fats(including Flax Oil) brain cells swell, and their shape and interactions are altered.
As for the so-called, much-touted 'essential fatty acids', consider this quote from Dr.Peat's book:
Essential fatty acids are, according to the textbooks, linoleic acid and linolenic acid, and they are supposed to have the status of 'vitamins,' which must be taken in the diet to make life possible. However, we are able to synthesise our own unsaterated fats when we don't eat the EFA, so they are not 'essential.' The term thus appears to be a misnomer.
(M.E Hanke, BIOCHEMISTRY, Encycl. Brir. Book of the Year, 1948).

I have read other research discrediting Flax Oil aswell , but i thought i would post this little bit on Flax Oil for anyone interested.
I know consume coconut and cod liver oil thats seem to be much safer and have more health benifits.

so what was the point of flax oil?........................gjohnson5, you say you use olive and safflower oil which is much cheaper. then why is flax oil promoted so much and stands out of the whole unsaturated fats crowd? I never had good results with flax oil. Coconut oil was banging when i used it. good energy, bigger weights, better recovery.

Fat is a much bigger bang for you buck!

1 gram of ________________ = #calories
protien = ~3-4
