flatmate has his girlfriend living us and the rent hasnt changed

What do you guys and girls think, I live in Japan
with 2 other guys and we pay 1950 dollars a month
split 3 ways 650 each now that my friend has his
girlfriend move in what is a fair deal in terms of
splitting up the rent... they share a room which
is the same size, but fridge lounge and just
general privacy is obviously different with the
extra person

Split that shit by the amount of people living there. Who cares where she sleeps. Unless he feels like picking up her rent then she has to pay her fair share. Regardless of what room she sleeps in.

This is usually how it starts out. A friend invites someone to stay and then they end up taking advantage of the situation. From personal experience i would let your renting partners know how you feel before its to late.

If she is just spending the night and has her own place, then don't change anything. If her shit is there and she LIVES there, she must pay 1/4 of the rent. Otherwise you're letting them walk all over you.

if they're using only one bedroom, one third the fridge, one third the pantry, whats the difference?
the problem is if you're all sharing a bathroom - or if you all share a tv - if they actually do use 1/2 of certain resources rather than 1/3 then yes they should pay 1/2 the rent together
but to be fair if they do then they deserve an extra room, half the fridge, half the pantry, etc etc
its a complicated situation .. perhaps you should just ask for them to pay 2/5ths the rent together or 3/7ths
alternately the rent can be just 1/3rd but utility bills like phone and power and water if applicable should certainly be split 4 ways
i would definitely feel like you are getting the short end of the stick at the moment, so push for what you can get, they can only say no
