flat bench

I quit benching years ago. The results have been better overall pectoral development with incline presses.

People underestimate inclines. . . that is why their chest sucks.

i do flat bench close grip and db flat bench occasionally, but when i like to start off my chest workouts with some heavy incline barbell, feels like a lot more ROM and stress on the muscles than flat barbell.

when most people flat bench press, they brng the bar to their lower chest, below, their nipples.. i read that steve reeves brought the bar to his upper chest and pressed in a straight line, to work the whole chest rather than an arching motion, he also did incline Db. ive tried that, and it was really hard, i couldnt use the same weight.

but i think if people benchpressed the harder way, theyd have better chest development..

i dont do it the way reeves did it, i just do the conventional flat and incline style..

just a thought

that Steve Reeves style bench is a good way to hit the upper pecs while doing flat bench. use a wider than normal grip with lighter weight bring the bar to your upper chest/neck. you'll feel the difference:) it can be hard on rotators.
