fitness modelling

has anyone done any fitness modelling here?just making some enquiries myself as I would like to put my years of training to use - I think I would be most interested & suitable for serious sport modelling and not the 'glamor' fitness type. I have low body fat with good shape/figure especially my legs. I have the appearance of swimmer/triathlete.just wondering if there are any openings for this sort of modelling?

FIRST, get shots done by a professional photograher. Check your local "yellow pages" for photo's and see if they do "modeling-type" shoots, specifically something like athletes, but not totally necessary. You will want head shots, workout wear, and some "normal" clothes. You want to do posed and action shots. Mimic the shots you see in workout magazines.

Now, you will do one of three things with the photos:

1) Send them to supplement companies and/or stores. If they like your look, they could put you on contract or on a shoot-by-shoot basis. Include a cover letter.

2) Send them to an agent. Not required, not necessary, but if you use an agent, THEY do the leg work. :) BUT, you also give them a cut of the money, and there is no guarantee.

3) Send them to magazines, again, with a cover letter. Send them to ANY mag you can think of that includes "fitness" spreads. These might not pay, but you will get exposure. Send them to the "fitness editor" or something similar.

Now wait, and wait and wait. :)

Try onemodelplace.com
You can get pics done there. I am a model and get tons of request by having my pics on that site. Then they are free to you and you can get paid! Good luck!

Ya, screw paying for photos, if you are smart and put your photos up on onemodelplace.com and musecube.com you can get paid work or get photos TFP (trade for print). Don't ever pay for photos to put together a portfolio, it is a waste of money. After putting myself on there I can't believe I ever paid for a photo to get done at Walmart!! Also make a good resume of your training and entertainment experience and put it on with your photos in your bio. You can also search for photographers and makeup artists in your area, then start sending out emails that you are interested in TFP to good reputable photographers, be careful, some of them are slimy.... and don't bare your ass to everyone that asks! Be selective and really think about if you are ready to be known for that! I was asked by an agent to consider posing for Playboy..... I decided I didn't want to be known for taking off my clothes. When you get hooked up then maybe you can be on websites, I got lucky and got a great couple that likes to create tasteful images for website use (my most risque one is the one I have as my avartar)..... anyways, good luck, any more questions just ask!

Interesting, I never heard of onemodelplace! Good info ladies! I guess I was lucky - being with a supp company right off the bat. :)

Am I too old at 29?I can look anywhere between 24 & 30 but wasn't sure if I would be getting a bit to old to try anything like this?I would have done it sooner but never had the confidence.I have just streamlined my figure down from a full blown bodybuilder type physique & feel great so was thinking of trying to use my new figure to earn me some money & boost my confidence more.

I wasn't signed to a contract until I was 29. I was 30 when I appeared in a magazine.
