first day bulking intakes are way outta line

I got a question. I see guys talking about 5000 calories a day when bulking on here. Whats odd is my trainer gave me a sheet with his meals from one day. Hes bulking now to get ready for a contest. The sheet showed he ate 12000 calories per day. He told me he eventually goes as high as 17000 per day. He said he eats 3500 calories when cutting. I didn't ask him about his reasons because I was pretty shocked. Whats the deal with this unorthodox style?

Maybe, im wrong, but arent rice and potatos worse for fat storage than milk. Milk has a Glycemic index (GI) of about 40, while potatos have a GI of 90 and rice about 75.

Yes they are. Not only that, but dairy products have beens how to increase insulin sensitivity.

ffknight, I have to agree on the fat intake. Reduce your carbs a bit to compensate if you are worried about total calories, and shoot for very low GI carbs. Make certain that at every meal you get at least 25% of your calories from fat in order to keep your testosterone levels elevated, as well as various other anabolic hormones. Carbs should be viewed as fuel. Eat as many as you need to fuel your workouts and activities. Any beyond that are unecissary, and counterproductive.

The protien intake looks acceptable at 400 grams.

i was a bloated 209 from creatine on monday, now im 206, and still on 10g a day, eating 4200+ cals and about 120-140g fat.
