Feel Weird When People Ask If I Need a Spot When Squatting or Am I just Homophobic?

Ok ya'll know by now that I, curling, started squatting. And btw it's not that bad its kind of a challenge. Back to topic anyway I have noticed when I am doing squats dudes(I don't even talk to in the gym) are always asking me if I want a spot? I mean even when I was warming up with couple 45 lb plates. Wth(what the hell) I mean when I am doing more than that on the incline people never ask if I want spot even when the damn bar is choking me because I shouldn't have tried that last rep.

So I wondered if maybe some of these dudes are fruitcakes. I am sure some of them were just being nice but I have been asked if I needed a spot a few times. It is creepy to me or am I just homophobic? Does this happen to ya'll?

Maybe you look like shit when your performing the exercise so people come over to see if you need a hand. You can't seriously think there is a bunch of fags in your gym that get off on spoting people doing squats?

Man I have no idea what fruitcakes get off too. I mean afterall they stick in things "in" their out "hole" so no telling what they like and they don't find chicks attractive which really blows my mind.

Secondly, I use very strict form that I learned from a dude with really big legs and alot times they ask me even before I start squating so that's not it.

Listen, I might be wrong maybe these dudes always heard to help spot people but it is still weird to me.

:FRlol: :FRlol: :FRlol: :FRlol: I know what you mean man. I remember a post from a couple months ago. This guy was talking about how spotting on a squat was "the gayest thing he's ever seen" in a gym.

I know that spots are often necessary, helpful, and harmless 99% of the time. But I read that post and laughed my ass off! I mean, I've seen guys spot each other on heavy spots. And I'm relatively sure there's nothing weird going on. But when one guy's right up behind the squatter who's grunting and groaning through a heavy set, come on, how can anyone not laugh at that?

But I don't know man. It sounds odd to me that someone would offer you a spot on a 135lbs squat.

Im in a chain gym which is filled with homos. But I get a spot from anyone regardless of sexual preference. My safety comes first bro.

Depends where they put their hands while they're spotting you. Under the arms is usual, they're NOT supposed to spot you by pushing up on your ass.

hand dont go on the shoulders when spotting and its not necessary for them to spot by the hip flexors either. LOL

i doubt they are on spot patrol, but they may be genuinely nice just because they know squats suck to get buried on. then again they could be after your cornhole too. yikes!

whatever you do, maybe have the same guy spot you so it doesnt look like the city bus, where everyone rides.

hehe, just busting your chops.
