FedEx opened package, then called LE. WTF???

if you never signed for it, never touched it, and there's no proof of you ordering it or having anything similar found at your residence...who's to say I didn't mail it to you to get you in trouble? Seriously, if you didn't receive it, take possession....HOW can you be in trouble? They should have let you sign for it, pick it up, and start walking to your car. I think they screwed up..

They screwed up in the sense that they are gonna be left holdin their dicks! Yea cheap's right if that's all it took to get someone in trouble then I'd mail my boss some wicked shit, like tonight. Tip off the cops and say look! Dudes bad. I'd put drugs and underage kiddy porn in a box to make sure if he didn't go away for a Long time he would be at least fired.

How can you be charged with possession if you never had it? If they can't piece together evidence of you actually giving someone money and communications of what was to be sold, they have no case. Just because they have illegal contraband that was being sent to your address, doesn't make you guilty of possession.

So many times police know you are guilty and you know you are guilty, but they have little evidence, not enough to get you. They let you talk yourself into a conviction. You did well by saying nothing, keep going with that approach. There's people always think they can outtalk the police. Maybe 90% of the time, they can, but all it takes is one slip-up and they have you. They can lie all they want to you, but its illegal for you to lie to a police officer.

Well I did sign for it. But what I signed only said that I received the box in good condition from the store, not that I knew the contents. Its more of a thing to protect the UPS store than anything else.

I walked to my car, put it in the front seat and they ran up on me. I never opened it. I don't know what the fuck it was. Sure I've gotten mail from that address before, but it was always my magazines and beans, not drugs. There could have been a gun with 10 bodies on it in there if he wanted to really get me in trouble. I never opened it so I don't know.

If I had taken it home and opened the box and actually possessed it things would be different. They thought they would search my place and find a ton of evidence connecting me to whatever was in the box and they came up with absolutely nothing. Which makes my lawyer take a harder look at the warrant and why they thought they had PC since I invoked my rights immediately.

If they found alot of evidence connecting me to the contents of the box, it be much different. I think they just took a gamble and lost.

But I am kind of biased. Lol

Now let me compare this situation to one that happened to a close friend of mine back in 2003. It was the exact same controlled delivery except the quantity was much greater. 2 boxes containing over 200k tablets each of various steroids from China. He invoked his rights, made them get a warrant, and when they finally did, they found 6 more similar boxes from China, WU receipts, 120 GH kits, as well as a couple hundred Sus amps, etc....

He took a plea. Lol

No priors so all he got was 6 months in prison. Not too bad considering the volume product he was moving.

Something doesn't seem legal about what the police did. They knew a package had illegal narcotics in it but put it back into fedex's mailstream?

Well it havent got any to do with the source, shit happends, its not first time ups or other companies work with the law.
Listen to yout lawyer he knows best.
Good Luck.

How is it you didn't know fedex, ups, dhl, and any private courier can open your mail? I truly believe the sticky glue on the US Postal mail supplies is scheduled to pop in 24 hours. The rule is they can't look in a package without reason, buttttt if its already opened and it gets dumped out by LE...oops I mean fell over accidentally and inadvertently fell out of the box, lol... they CAN and will look.
Its amazing how people think they are safe mailing anything and then worry once something goes awry..

Don't fool yourself into thinking that domestic shipping is safer. If anything, it is fraught with more perils.

you need to use a supplier that is bonded and their carrier is on board, many raws suppliers in china with their carriers can do their own customs clearances and if the carrier is on board it doesn't matter if they open the package. usually this doesn't apply to retail suppliers i guess. Demand EMS for a carrier, they care about nothing other than their delivery time.

Sorry for your loss and your troubles with LE. I think if you have a competent attorney you will not fare too badly. I just want to offer my 2 cents as I have shipped a lot of packages. Most people want security and speed but anonymity is far more important. Plain Jane mail is the best way- always. FedEx screams "this is valuable/important"- is that what you want? In your case it sounds like you may use the paper trail against them because of the timeline but don't count on that as it usually goes the other way.
