Failure.

Personally, I need smaller jumps sometimes toward the end. If your previous record is 375, I would've done something like this:

135 x 3
185 x 3
215 x 3
245 x 1
275 x 1
315 x 1
340 x 1
385 x 1 PR
405 x 1

Sometimes a 40 pound jump, when you're in PR range, can really f' with your mind. It feels heavier than it should. I do make an exception with the 340-385 jump because you already KNOW you can do 375. So get the small PR, put the feather in your cap, and go for more!
 
You may have jumped too far between your failed attempt and the set before it.

I believe I have read that Metal Militia fellows take the same mode of thinking. I respect that highly.

Why give your body a choice, when you can give it an order?
