extreme pain in calves

So I worked out my calves on friday (never had before) I am in so much pain I can hardly walk. It is worse when I sit for a while and have to stand up, but it gets a little better when I walk around. My day off is today. But I have to do cardio tomorrow
Any suggestions as to what to do, I am taking glutimine twice a day so I can only imagine how I would feel if I weren't???
thanks

yup, not working. Last night when I went to bed I woke up everytime I turned over and had to do stretches cause it is like my muscles are in a constant spasm or lock if I don't use them. Drinking lots of water too, I am hoping that will help as well. my husband said that my pain is not good cause it should of gotten a little better since friday. I know I obviously over did it but I am hoping I didn't damage my muscles just started this week!

You might want to try some Vitamin I (Ibuprofin) for the pain, stretch & massage.....also you may want to try icing them also.....

I would say no heat for right now as the heat will draw the blood to the area - thus possibly causing the pain to linger....RICE it: rest, ice, compression & elevation.....

The pain is always worse on the second day after training. You'll be fine. When I train clients I always start very easy when we train calves. It is a muscle that is very easy to overtrain. And it's rough when you first start training them. Also it helps if you take a warm bath with some Epsom salt in it. Try and gently stretch and massage them in the warm bath water trust me it helps. Take care :) Don't let the horns scare you....lol

Jen I think the bath will help her. She is sore from working out the muscle. Now I would agree if it was a "said injury" swelling etc....
