Explosive moves!

I tried the Jump Snatch/Clean Pull today.
I think this is a awesome move for improving vertical jump and the standing long jump and plain power. Use a load that allows your feet to leave the ground. Since its simple and not as skilled based as the Power Clean and Snatch, its much better for developing power. You can use more weight too.
Just remeber to thrust with your legs and hips, don't pull with your upper body, and rember to point your toes to explode the calves as you lift off.

Its kind a like a jumping deadlift. Has gotta help a power lifter for sure!

Another good move is the Jump shrug with a dive start. Basicly
you set the power rack bars so that when barbell is sitting on them, it's at knee height - when you have your knees bent to the exact same height as the bottom of your vertical jump.
Then just leave the bar there and stand up. On a count of 3 you drop down like your vertical jumping, grab the bar and jump up so your feet leave the ground, shrugging the shoulders at the top of the jump. Drop the bar down again and repeat.

Power cleans feel so pussy compared to these lifts ;)
Olympic lift hybrids are so much fun!!!!!!!!
I feel like a mean explosive power athlete MOFO doing these:fro:
Nothing will grab stares in gym like these moves :D

Your fast twitch IIB fibres will GROW!
Just do sets of 5.

But damn I need some lifting gloves - tore up my hands throwing these Olympics bars around! :(

I think some lifting straps are in order :)

Frigging bar ripped off my palm callouses!

I also have a red imprint on my forehead when I used way too much power on the Clean and smacked the bar on my head.... ouch

CoolColJ- when you gonna post some progress pics. I know you said your bodyfat has dropped from being high to around 10% or so. Im just interested in seeing what this diet and sprints have done.

As soon as I get a replacement digicam - I sold my Canon S330 on ebay, to get a better one.

The one I want hasn't be released yet at my local camera shop so until then.

I haven't done any sprints in the last month or so, because its getting mighty cold now and I've shifted my training to explosive
olympic lifts, and thus I want to minimise drain on my CNS. I tend to overtrain pretty easily.

I'm still pretty fat though if your wondering - 10% is not very lean :) But yeah 6 months ago I weighed 210lbs and I had a 40 inch waist - I don't have any pics of me back then. Now my waist is 30 inches and I weigh 182lbs.

I'm shooting to get my waist down to 28-27inches eventually.
When I used to bodybuild (about 10 years ago) I would compete with my waist at 28.5, but I really wasn't ripped though, just very lean.

Saw Patera training when I was a kid. He was pulling the most explosive 700 I have even seen. Even now, more than 25 years later, I still have not seen anybody just brutalize the bar like that. It was incredible.

He did not wear gloves either. :)

Damn explosive pulls add a beef to your delts!
Got some extra slabs of meat on my side delts this morning :)

Not to mention my traps and hammies as well.

Personally I would have love to seen Serge Reding train - would have been awesome!

That sucks. Best thing to do is to superglue them back on. A thin layer over the callus prone area is awesome. The bars where I work out are all worn smooth, my grip has gone to shit. I want knurling that sticks in your skin like a thousand needles.

Jump shrug with a dive start eh. I'm still working on half-assed clean pulls.

I'm surprised how much one can clean pull and jump into the air 6 inches or so.

I used 140lbs, which is quite a bit for me since I weigh 185. Yes my bodyweight is on the rise :)
