Ever have a friend that totally dogged you for a girl?

My buddy was completely obsessed with this girl from the gym. Dude would look at her myspace and shit, pretty gay if you ask me. Anyway he is a good looking guy he's a stock trader and also happens to be a co owner of the company I started. He starts seeing her and turns his world upside down. Now, I understand love and all that happy shit but this guy seems to be stepping over the line.

He will try to openly dog me in front of her whenever I'm speaking with her. IT doesn't matter he will just make a snide comment and personally I'm not a man that tolerates that.

His girlfriend is friendly and I do like her as a person, naturally I had to be his wing man when he finally got to courting her so she and I know each other fairly well so we chat every now and again when the two of them (theyre joined at the hip) come out.

So she gets to talking to me last night and tells me what she got my buddy for Christmas. So I ask what he got her and she says a trip to DC. I was just recently on business in DC and the organization that took me out there set up a tour of DC so naturally I went to see our nations capital.

Anyway I'm showing her pics on my treo of places such as the lincoln memorial, Vietnam wall, Arlington National Cemetary, Marine Corps. Memorial etc. It seemed like it was really bothering him so he comes over and goes "we're not going to go see any of that shit and your phone has the worst camera." (By the way he is right, the camera on the Treo sucks but the pictures weren't that bad.)

I've let this slide a couple times but this dude is going to need a firm talking to.

I originally assumed you meant he ditched you for his girl, spends all his time with her and none with you anymore. THAT is pretty typical with the little boys we have running around nowadays.

But your situation is different, if I am hearing it correctly. He basically tries to verbally demean you in front of you and his girl whenever you interact with her? You can also assume that he talks shit about you when it's just him and her.

I think he has low self esteem and is worried that she will like you better. He doesn't feel like he deserves her in some way so he's gonna be hyper sensitive and jealous and all that fun stuff. Good times.

He'll lose her eventually. Talk to him about it. You don't deserve to take that shit. Slap him around if need be

when he pulls this, all you need to do is give the girl a glance, "like wow are you gettin this guy"?...be the bigger more mature guy...

what this boils down to:
your friend is afraid he doesnt measure up to you, and fears you will take her away from him. I had same thing happen last year. Girl will see- if she doesnt, she likes that type of control...let him make the ass out of himself. he wont listen to you anyway...if you talk to her in depth, she wont listen either...they have to do it, to understand it.

I hear that a similar situation actually happened to my two best friends who are Marines.

I don't get why he would think he'd need to measure up to me. I mean this guy is a lot better looking than me and has a good job as well and is all around a good guy. Plus I would never even think of trying anything with this girl he's been my best friend for like 10 years.
