Oh Brandee...I do remember those days! And, it was a really young, hip gym..and here I was 39 and trying to get started.
I actually hired a trainer as I had NO CLUE what to do. She was wonderful, patient and best of all incredibly supportive and motivational.
If you have the cash to spend on one, I think it is well worth it in the beginning.
As for the big guys correcting your form -- take their help. Don't be shy.....and you will soon see which guys know their stuff and which ones are just trying to strike up conversation with you.
Get yoursefl a book on lifting that has photos on correct form. I did that as well...and it was a great learning tool. Even now, I refer back to it.
And, congratulations on your newfound lifestyle. It is hard, has its ups and downs...but well worth it.
