Elbow Tendinitis-what are your tips to lessen the PAIN

Georgia Irish said:
What ways do you all who get this dreaded stuff do to maek it easier on you. I get it on my elbows and the copper bracelet help a little bit. Ibuprofen helps some. Icy Hot or Bio Freeze help some. But for the most part it still hurts and I love doing skull crushers and tricep extensions behind the head and I cannot do this now because of the intense pain. I can bench and dumbell presses and tricep extensions with the cables without hardly any pain. Help me if you can any will help. Georgia Irish

What I used to do is get an elbow compression sleeve, the pain was non-existant.

used to have tendonitis in my forearm started wearing neopreme elbow supports no more pain now i wear them just because i look so cool with them on. hope it helps

Ive had really bad tendonitis in my left elbow and it prevented me from doing all tricep and bicep exercises.

I took 4 months off from training to hope it would heal and it only got slightly better. The way I eventualy cured it was by using a heat spray on the affected area while I was training, every 10 minutes I would spray a little on. I did not use it after training just to get me through training with as little pain as possible. After a while it got completely better.

Good luck

Good info, Wyllis, what kind of heat spray was it? Also, according to my Prolo doc, immobilizing a tendonitus is one of the worst things you can do for/to it.

Simple. Pick excersises that don't hurt. Don't do the tricep excersises that are bothering your elbow. Hell, skip triceps all together. They get hit plenty hard while doing chest and shoulders. Everyone poo-poos leg extensions, but wouldn't even imagine skipping triceps isolation excersises.

Do whatever you can for just a few intense sets, then don't train that part for a week. Slowly, the pain will go away. Then you can go back to triceps heavy.

Don't bother with the drugs, it will just eat at your stomach.
