I know you have to eat big to get big. I am eating every 3 or 4 hours, lots of tuna, turkey, oats, veggies, protien shakes etc. The problem I am having is I feel like my stomach is all chunky. My muscles are getting bigger, but not at the same rate as my stomach. Should I be doing some cardio? I was told if Im trying to bulk, to not do cardio. What should I do?

You may be consumin gto many calories...I always stick to the following formula for growth with minimal body fat;

1.5g protein per pound/bodyweight

2g carbs per pound/bodyweight - 3g maybe for the heavier bodybuilder

Consume plenty of healthy fats from fish, egg yolks and maybe add a fish oil supp in there also

All carbs being complex apart from post training when you can throw in some fast digesting to fill up glyco stores quickly....avoid processed carbs as much as poss i.e. bread etc

Or maybe it isjust the type of food you are consuming and not the calories...What is your diet like mate - carb wise?

For breakfast I will eat a banana, oatmeal, eggs, protien shake.
for lunch I eat turkey sandwiches on whole wheat bread.
dinner I always eat a meat (steak, chicken, meatloaf, etc) with a baked potato, and a veggie. In between meals I eat tuna, protien shakes, fruit (banana, apple).
The only thing I can think of, is sometimes for lunch I will eat mac and cheese mixed with tuna. other than that I am pretty strict with my diet. no sugars, no junk food, no fast food. any thoughts?

The best way for anyone to help you most effectively on this board is by being as specific as possible on every aspect, i.e. # of cals/macronutrients consumed, height/weight, goals, etc. :)

Im 5'9, 165-170. I try to get in 3000 calories/day. 300 grams protien/day. 300 grams carbs/day. Im trying to bulk up to around 180. Once I do that I plan on cutting up a little.(Im naturaly pretty cut anyways, its just my stomach and sides that get pudgy).

Just remember to keep it clean.

First I realized I wasnt eating enough. Then i ate more. Then I realized I wasn't eating clean and big. Then I cleaned up my diet.

Try to keep it to fresh wholesome foods. Avoid sugar except PWO. Try proteins like cottage cheese, egg whites and lean meats.

Try carbs that are low GI. Use www.glycemicindex.com to search for food GI.

Carbs that are good are: sweet potatoes, oat meal, nuts, beans and vegetables.

Totally agree

how about brown rice?

I honestly think you need your starchy carbs while bulking, at least one serving per day, possibly pre-work out.

Also, whole wheat grain (or sprouted) bread is OK in my book. Agree on the "keep it clean" advice though, bulking is no advice to go and make Mc Donalds Corp. any richer.

Brown Whole-grain rice is a major part of my diet overall - wether cutting or bulking
