Eating before bed.

Important Notice:

The advice needed isn't for my benefit because I'm the biggest man in the world, it's for a friend.

-------------------------------------------------

Basically bro's, for someone with a reasonably fast metabolism that has difficulty gaining weight, would it be a better idea to eat a big meal just before sleep for 'Muscle Gain'?

Whilst training of course, how beneficial would this be?

Would it lead to mainly fat gain?

Cheers,

Not the best overall idea.....

unless you want to gain fat, the last meal should not be huge

uh....whats the question???

Question's under the ----- line.

So Anthrax, you reckon it will cause large proportion fat/muscle gain?

If my bodies (i mean my mates) needing protein for repair after training, what protein/carb/fat composition do you think the meal should be?

And in terms of calories, in a diet of about 2500 per day, how many cals in the meal about an hour before bed?

a bucket of cottage cheese before going to bed is the best.
Dude, you need to read to find out everthing you dont know. You dont know too much, from what i see, and it would take to long to tell you everything you need to know.

So...

You guys see no benefits to a guy with a fast metabolism that struggles to get enough calories, of eating a high calorie meal before bed as opposed to trying to eat more throughout the day?

More replies welcomed.

Your pre-bed time meal should be composed of protein and fat (example: protein shake and ANPB or chicken and nuts, or cottage cheese). Remeber, you will be sleeping for about 8 hours which should be the longest amount of time, in a 24 hour period, that you go without eating. Although you're asleep, your body is still working away, specially if you wokred out that day your body will be trying to repair muscles. Eatin fat and protein befroe bed will make sure there is enough nutrients to go around so that your body does not rob them away from your muscles to sustain itself during that long period without feeding. No carbs as they will likely turn into fat due to your sedentary state.

Protein and fat before bedtime will help fight catabolism. Keep it simple.

Hope that helps

Ditto. I dont have the fastest BMR in the world and I eat two or three servings of non-fat cottage cheese before bed. Its helped me quite a bit with muscle retention/repair and seems to keep my metabolism bumped up.
