eating at night question!!

I had some oatmeal with whey protein powder about 2 hours before bed. Is this alright?

The oatmeal is complex and therefore burns much slower and will be less likely to convert to fat during the night....you also need to look at the serving size...how many grams of carbs?.....but you should have a higher ratio of protein to carbs to prevent muscle loss during the night...

OK, as usual, with this diet stuff, I find myself confused..........

I thought the long standing rule for dieting was -no- eating at night, like after 8PM. No?!?!

But now I'm reading this thread and seeing people say that when dieting, you should still drink a protein shake before bed???

The no eating at night is a good rule for people other than bodybuilders...However, when BBing you need to worry about muscle loss when dieting...also, you want to make sure your body has enough protein overnight to help rebuild muscle (b/c the majority of muscle growth will occur during sleep)
