Drinking Raw Eggs, What Is So God

The human body cannot completely and safely digest a raw egg white. So, if you like to do the “Rocky Routine” with a raw egg or raw egg white in your drink, you are wasting your time, not to mention the threat of Salmonella. Avidin, which is found in raw egg whites, blocks the uptake of Vitamin B6 (Biotin) causing a vitamin deficiency. You must cook the egg white to neutralize the Avidin and allow your body to safely digest the protein and utilize all its Amino acids.

alright so no on raw eggs someone told me that people do that for some reason....so next question what about hard boiled eggs

Egg whites are very low in calories, have no fat, no cholesterol, and are loaded with protein

but boil them right, and what the egg whites are they the balls in the middle of them our the out side of them? or eat them raw clean? I am confused

chance of gettin salmonella is very slim, wouldnt worry about it, even if yuo get it unless your an infant or an old man nothing really bad is going to happen to you, also biotin is not vitamin b6, it is b7, egg yolks are very rich in biotin so if your going to drink raw eggs, drink the whole egg, if you just want the whites by the pasturized ones, the heat from pasturization is hot enough to neutralize the advidin

LMFAO!!!

yellow = yolk (inside part of egg) & clear(when raw) white(when cooked) = outside of egg.

look up the nutritional facts for 'an egg with yolk' and then look up 'an egg without yolk' compare the 2 nutritional facts.

Cutt29 just said that pasturized eggs are heated up enough to neutrialize the advidin so it doesn't cause a biotin(b7) deficiency. Basically they are the same. Which is your culinary preference? Raw or Cooked?

Thanks, good call on the b7. But still, you can't use all of the protein unless you cook the egg.

this whole paragraph should be in quotes no? i just ordered from eggs international....

Cooking eggs reduces the bioavailability of the protein. That is why people eat them raw.

cooking eggs denatures the protein. some studies show that this enchances bioavilabilty, while others say the opposite. One thing about cooking is not disputed though, the nutrients in the yolk are better absorbed and assimilated in its raw form.

I drink raw eggs in 3rd world countries all the time - and I'm still alive...;)

I like the taste of raw eggs, but most guys prefer to cook the eggs.

raw eggs may contain salmonella. this can be avoided by buying pasteurized eggs. some companies in the US and perhaps elsewhere use IR (ionizing radiation), though cant say that am in favor of this.

your body is going to denature the proteins anyway through digestion. cooking the eggs should make no difference besides reducing the chances of getting salmonella.

I find it much more satisfying to eat them cooked up with cheese personally.

I used to chug egg whites everyday for a good while though.

not to the extent that cooking does

I think you're making the assumption that I said that the body denatures the proteins the same way cooking does, which is wrong. The body is going to denature the uncooked egg and the cooked egg (independent of how it was denatured by cooking) by digestion alone. all im saying, is that when the body absorbs the basic components of the protein (ie. Amino acids), it shouldn't matter if it is raw or cooked because it is all going to be digested to its basic components. i mean if you burn your eggs, that might be another story.
