That being said, at least (most) outdoor cats have the common decency to poop somewhere very out of sight AND they usually dig a hole and bury it.
Dogs, meanwhile, don't think twice about copping a squat right in the middle of the sidewalk.
It's not just about poop though, it's about respect. Take my father for example, his dog never leaves the yard. She's not fenced in when she's outside, but she's aware of the invisible line bordering her territory. The neighborhood cats however, roam free. This has caused problems in the past, to the point where my father even trapped some of the cats in his yard and took them down to the humane society. The cats were digging in his garden. He uses fish heads among other things for fertilizer, the cats would dig to the point where they'd pull up seeds or roots. He's really anal about his trucks, washes them weekly. Never seems to fail that there'd be dirty paw prints up and down the hood of his vehicles the day after he'd wash 'em. They'd chase off the squirrels my father likes to feed in the back yard. One was even bold enough to enter the back doggy door to steal food from the dogs bowl.
So I've got to ask, what gives cat owners the right?
