Dog owners, I gotta ask something

What gives cat owners the right to let their feline's roam loose in the neighborhood? :D

We both know most cat owners don't have true "house cats"
I think letting your cat outdoors if you live in an urban area is irresponsible. Farm country is a different story, but I live 17 miles out of Philadelphia, high traffic suburbia.

My cats have not, do not, and will never go out. They have actually been trained that going near the front or back door is BAD. As I have said before, I live at the corner of a VERY busy intersection, I would be murdering my cats, whom I love very dearly, if I were to let them out.

That being said, at least (most) outdoor cats have the common decency to poop somewhere very out of sight AND they usually dig a hole and bury it.

Dogs, meanwhile, don't think twice about copping a squat right in the middle of the sidewalk.

yeah! my sandbox when i was a kid! :(

We have a dog park we frequent where it seems like nobody picks up after their pet because there is dog crap everywhere. I have no problem if someone's dog squats and they don't make a move to pick it up saying very directly "your dog just took a dump." and I'll even hand them a poop bag. Embarrassment does wonders.

Around here it seems like every dog just gets chained up in the yard anyway so there are a lot of really lazy dog owners. Sometimes I swear our dog walks by those yards with an extra strut as if to say "yeah, you sorry sack of crap, I'm getting walked and you're not haha!"

If you leave it, what gives you the right (particularly when it comes to the dog using someone's lawn)?

I guess because it doesn't bother me at all if someone else allows their dog to dump on mine. Never has. It's just a little poo. Free fertilizer.

I think if I had a really huge dog that laid monstro loafs though I'd make sure he/she didn't dump on lawns.

*sigh* Et tu?

Okay, here's the thing - when you live on a corner, you are EVERY dog's piss/shit stop, seriously (not to mention the fact every loose piece of garbage on the street seems to migrate here like being sucked into a black hole). I used to have pretty flower beds surrounding my property. You stick your hand into one too many piles of shit when you go to pull weeds you eventually get discouraged. Hell, I already scoop my pans and tend to my pets, why should I have to spend 30 minutes cleaning up dog shit (which I happen to find utterly revolting) before I can even start the gardening?

So consequently, screw the garden. I'd concrete over the lawn if it wouldn't cost me money.

Cleanup is the law here.

Wait til hubby wants to play football with Junior in the yard and both come in covered with dog poop.

Lazy dog owners are sorry sacks of crap. My gf and I walk her neighbours dog. The guy leaves his dog tied up in front and when he takes her out it's usually in his truck and he leaves her in there while he does his shopping. Fat fuck lets her out in the back to drop her deuces.

Living in the city, you gotta clean up after your dog.
