...degrade the person watching it?

My grandfather used to think so. I just was thinking of him right now.
 
I think it depends.. im not offended by it.. but if the person your with is.. you have to repsect that
 
My grandfather always told me that porn degrades the person watching it. He used to tell me after watching it, you'll have a harder time having sex with women because you were used to the porn scenes (perfect pictures) and nothing can compare.

porn can be positive, if its amateur stuff and the people making it were happy about it, and happy for people to see it

watching people have sex on camera for purely for money, hating every minute of it is akin to prostitution, and yeah, knowingly watching it and getting off on it is degrading, imo

Does it degrade women? Sure, but they make the choice to pose so I make the choice not to give a shit if they are degraded.

Does it degrade the guy looking at it? Can't he do better then look? No, it doesn't degrade him until it pisses me off. :) Looking every now and then is one thing. Skipping sex with your SO so that you can jerk off to a computer screen, degrading in my book.

I like porn, once in a while, hell I have a membership at my local Fascinations. And I don't mind the SO looking at it. As long as 3 conditions are met. 1) I best be getting more then enough to be satisfied. 2) Don't be a bone head and try to hide it-I'll find it and then I'll be irratated cuz you're being a bone head. And finally 3) No small children, furry four legged woodland critters, teens that are clearly not of legal age, or fat people.

The world of porn is not a pretty thing....it is chalk full of problems.

otoh....People are getting married much later....we would have a hella lot more abortions and std's if guys had to chase girls for satisfaction. Plus....most girls are not very satisfying.

Personally....I would prefer the world had no porn for a bit. Try that out for a while and see what happens.

I think the current offering of porn plays a negative role in male/female interaction. Females ought to be highly suspicious of guys given the popularity of porn that is pretty darned questionable.

I doubt that viewing normal porn is harmful if things are kept reasonably decent.

Yes, I believe porn is degrading. More that it, over time, can change the views the user has on other people. It can make someone change to consider others around them as only things from/with which peasure can be obtained rather than viewing others as people. For those involved in the production of porn it eats away at their dignity and self-confidence. They come to value themselves primarily on their sexual appeal which over time will be lost. A similar thing happens to the user/viewer of porn. They can become primarily sexually minded and begin to think of themselves as sexual objects also. Their self worth can become based on how much sex they are or are not having. So, is porn degrading? To a point I say it is but sex itself can become degrading in the same ways. It's a matter of the attitudes that people involved have about others.

actually it's a quasi-documentary film in which a pre-historic tribe loses their fire in a nasty storm
so they send out 3 of their own on a "quest for fire"
their journey kind of chronicles the tribulations faced by pre-historic man
(e.g. they run across a tribe of cannibals)
eventually they encounter another tribe that after the initial confrontation,the two groups are peaceful
a lot has to do with the 3 resquing a girl from the cannibals,who happens to be a member of this other tribe(they set her free)
this new tribe is a bit more advanced than the 3,but the "elders" of the new tribe examine the tooth structure of the alpha male of the 3
when they note his structure is acceptable,he his later that evening led to a hut in which there are about half a dozen chubby females

while our hero the alpha male is doing so,many of the members of the "advanced" tribe are peaking into the hut watching the proceedings
