Does Anyone Keep their "Word" Anymore?

I mean what is the deal. Have people forgot what that means. I mean when you say you will do something you should do it. But it seems lately that nobody keeps their word anymore.

For instance deadlines, when you tell somebody that you will have something done by such and such a time you should arrange your schedule so you can do just that. But nobody hits deadlines anymore.

So I am starting to wonder if keeping your word means crap in the 2000s. What do ya'll think have ya'll noticed that nobody keeps their word anymore too?

Few keep their word because it is easier to agree to the task
and then not do it, than either doing it or telling you they can't.

Bird bird bird, bird is the word

I try to keep it. I never promise anything unless I know I can do it.

That is cool bro but I guarantee you are an exception to the rule.

How times have changed:

Then

Things used to get accomplished by a promise and a handshake. (Gentlemen's agreement)

Now

Things get accomplished by using lawyers, contracts, notaries, mediators, etc., a promise and a handshake (sometimes). Then dealines are extended indefinitely. Even then, it's not a given that it will be accomplished.

It's the way of the new world.
