Does a protein shake replace a meal?

For me, I do.
If i'm trying to lean out the shake will be high protein, almost no carb and i'll make it with water. Think syntrax nectar.

If I'm not leaning out the shake will be a moderate-high protein, moderate carbs, some fat and I'll make it with 2%milk. Think muscle milk.

yes, but I do not consider it a meal replacement. If i had the time i would get rid of protein shakes alltogether

It adds to your macros , so yes I count it , if my aim is 300g of pro a day , I count all complete forms of protien of getting there including shakes !

Ive asked the same question and pretty much got the same answers. If you have a crazy sched like I do (work 730-4, school 6-10) then adding a protein shake in the mix will help especially around dinner time. Syntha 6 Protein is pretty good from what I was told. Its thicker, more filling and slower digesting... I bought some today so we shall see if this is true. I was also told that Dymatize has Elite Hydro is fast absorbing no carbs, or sugars and low calories. Its goid to take that during the day and Syntha 6 at night.

depends on what you mean by 'protein shake'.. protein shakes have amino acids. but you need real food if you want to bulk and you need macronutrients, not shakes. its should not count as a meal.

i drink whey protein twice a day, when i wake up and when i go to bed. neither are meals for me. the smoothie you get from the smoothie shop that is sugar, soy, and whey mixed with ice is not a meal either.

now if you were to add a lot of greens, veggies, fruits to a shake and drink it then it would be a different story.

there is a new product from mr supps called N2Bulk. its got super plasma protein, eggs, sweet potato as its main ingredients.. now that you can consider a meal, its nothing like anything you can get from a smoothie shop
