Do deadlifts give you the 'bodybuilder' look?

What do you think about deadlifts? Is this the core exercise that can give the 'bodybuilder' look?

I recently added them to my workout after doing them a couple years ago only for a few months. I am wondering who here does them and how you feel about them. I think that squats are more difficult.

Squats are more difficult in that the form is harder to get down but DL's take more out of me than squats. I'm not sure about building that "bodybuilder" look but DL's will give you a thicker back, better traps and thicker lower back.

My back grew very slowly until I started doing deads. They accelerated growth by a wide margin, and now its much thicker and fuller. Theyve also rounded out my traps which defintiely adds to the look you that want. Definitely one of the core movements for overall growth.

Deadlifts are the best for back. Do Heavy deads and your back will fill out. Thats how Ronnie C. built his amazing back along with many others. Just stay strict on form. After 6 sets I feel like I ran a marathon there awesome!

I love deadlifts but they cause extreme lower back pumps when I am on a cycle. I think I can deadlift more off cycle than I can on. - cbeaks

One note on deadlifts that us powerlifters have noted:

Stop and reset your form after each deadlift rep..If you dont form will suffer and your last reps wont look like your first reps

Deads should be a part of any serious bodybuilders arsenal, they build mass in a way that no other exercise can do! The problem is they are very taxing, so a lot of guys would rather take the easy way out and do some hammer strength rows instead

Cytomel: that's a good point there because I believe some people tend to rep their way through deadlifts a little too quickly, and add more stress on their lower back.

I've recently added Deadlifts to my program and my upper back/traps has been growin' like a weed. It's a must in every training program!

Do ya'll do it first or at the end of the back workout?

I have enough lower back problems as it is. It really depends on your goals really. I have no intentions of competing so it's not worth it to me to risk hurting my back even more.
